SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Davidson's Ryan Hopkins has been honored as the men's Southern Conference Runner of the week for his performance during the weekend of September 17-18, the league office announced today.
Hopkins, a junior from Greenwich, Conn., finished second at the inaugural Clemson Invitational. His time of 24:20 on the 8K course was the fastest ever on any 8K course by a Davidson runner. Hopkins finished second overall behind Kenyon Gilbert Kemboi for USC Upstate. Hopkins led Davidson to the team championship over Charlotte and Clemson.
The Wildcats return to action on October 1 at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational.

Mike Koech, a junior at UNCG, ran a 24:54 to win the individual title at the Elon Invitational. The public health education major from Eldoret, Kenya, set a UNCG school record with his time and helped pace the Spartans to the team title.
Sean Soderman, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., helped lead Appalachian State to the team title at the Asics-Winthrop Invitational. His time of 24:38 on the 8K course equals his personal best from last season and led him to the individual title in a field of over 200 competitors.
