GREENVILLE, S.C. - Games against Indiana State, Clemson, Wake Forest, and Arkansas highlight the 2010-11 Furman Paladins' women's basketball schedule, which was released today by head coach Jackie Carson.
"We're excited about our schedule and feel it will definitely challenge our squad right out of the gate and to the final whistle," said Carson, the former two-time Southern Conference player of the Year who returned to her alma mater in April following a highly successful five-year assistant coaching tenure at James Madison. "Our non-conference schedule will be tough, and our league will again be very strong."
Furman tips off the campaign with three road games beginning on Nov. 12 against Indiana State. Following clashes with Mercer (Nov. 19) and Clemson (Nov. 23), the Paladins will open their 13-game home slate on Nov. 27 versus Presbyterian. Two days later Furman begins Southern Conference play when the College of Charleston (Nov. 29) pays a visit to Timmons Arena.
Other top non-conference games include a Dec. 22 clash with Wake Forest and Dec. 28 contest versus Arkansas.
The Paladins tip off 2011 with back-to-back visits to SoCon powers Chattanooga (Jan. 4) and Samford (Jan. 6) before returning home to face Davidson (Jan. 10).
A five-game homestand punctuates Furman's late season schedule beginning with a Jan. 31 game against UNC Greensboro, and continuing with contests versus Samford (Feb. 5), Chattanooga (Feb. 7), Western Carolina (Feb. 12), and Elon (Feb. 14).
The 2011 Southern Conference Tournament is scheduled for Mar. 4-7 at Chattanooga.
