SoConSports.com Debuts Expanded Features And New Layout

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference, in conjunction with its multimedia partner NeuLion, unveiled a new web site today (www.soconsports.com).  The new site will give SoCon fans exclusive news coverage, features, scores, standings and streaming video on all 12 member institutions.  New navigation menus and options will make the site more manageable for visitors.  Fans will also be able to follow the Southern Conference with direct feeds through Facebook and Twitter.

"We think the new design will have an attractive look to it and be much more user friendly," said John Iamarino, Southern Conference Commissioner.  "One noticeable improvement will be the use of significantly more video throughout the website."

The new site will feature enhanced conference championship pages, providing the event schedule, ticket information, bracket, photo gallery and results.The championship section will also provide historical information on the league's past events.

Fans can also experience the storied tradition of the nation's fifth oldest Division I conference through the site's Hall of Fame section.  Past honors and awards are prominently featured along with the sections detailing the history of the Commissioner and Germann Cups.

The Southern Conference site will continue to serve as host of the Division I Football Championships Subdivision Top 25 Coaches Poll.

ABOUT THE SOUTHERN CONFERENCE

The Southern Conference, in its 90th season of intercollegiate competition, is a national leader in emphasizing the development of the student-athlete and helping build lifelong leaders and role models.  The conference has been on the forefront of innovation and originality in developing creative solutions to address issues facing intercollegiate athletics.  From establishing the first conference basketball tournament (1921), tackling the issues of freshman eligibility (1922), developing women's championships (1984) to becoming the first conference to install the three-point goal in basketball (1980), the Southern Conference has been a pioneer.  The Southern Conference is the nation's fifth-oldest NCAA Division I collegiate athletic association. 

The conference currently consists of 12 members in five states throughout the southeast and sponsors 19 varsity sports and championships that produce participants for NCAA Division I Championships.
