SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman junior forward Fabien Vorbe has been chosen as the Southern Conference men's soccer player of the week for all matches from September 6-12.
Vorbe helped Furman to the Diadora/Spinx Furman Invitational title and earned tournament MVP honors with two goals over the weekend. He scored both goals, including a 110th-minute, match-winning header, in a 4-3 win over Detroit on Friday night before guiding the Paladins to a 2-1 double overtime triumph over Stetson on Sunday.
For the season, Vorbe is tied for the Southern Conference lead with three goals while leading Furman to a 3-1 start for the first time since 2007.
Other Nominees: Clint Irwin (Elon), Francis Twohig (College of Charleston), Chip Sanders (Davidson) and Ryan Platt (Georgia Southern).
