Columbia, S.C. - The Citadel placed three players on the All-Region Team of the NCAA Tournament for only the second time in school history on Monday.
The 1990 baseball team that advanced to the College World Series is the only other team in school history to place three Bulldogs on the All-Region Team.
Second baseman Bryan Altman (Summerville, S.C.), shortstop Kyle Jordan (Goose Creek, S.C.) and left-handed pitcher Matt Talley (Sumter, S.C.) were all named to the 11-man NCAA All-Region team in Columbia.
Altman batted .636 (7-for-11) with three runs scored, four RBI, 12 total bases and was hit by a pitch. The redshirt senior did not commit an error in the tournament and had four putouts and eight assists. He belted a three-run homer of South Carolina starter Blake Cooper on Saturday's game.
Jordan collected three hits and two RBI after batting .273 (3-for-11) in the regional. The senior had four putouts and six assists and made several stellar plays in the field. He had an RBI groundout vs. Virginia Tech on Friday and put the Bulldogs on the board on Saturday against South Carolina with an RBI single to left.
Talley threw six innings of shutout baseball against No. 16 Virginia Tech in a 7-2 win by The Citadel on Friday. The southpaw went 7.0 innings in total, allowing two runs, eight hits, no walks and struck out three in picking up his eighth win of the season.
