Wojciechowski Named Collegiate Baseball All-American

Tucson, Ariz. - The Louisville Slugger NCAA Division I All-American baseball teams and National Player of The Year were announced today by Collegiate Baseball newspaper on Thursday.

 

The Citadel's Asher Wojciechowski was named to the All-American second team. The junior is 12-2 in 16 starts and 119.0 innings pitched this season with an ERA of 3.25. The right-hander's 144 strikeouts are second most in Division I. The 12 wins are tied for the most in school history in a single season. The Bulldog ace has throw three complete games and has six double-digit strikeout performances this season.

 

Wojciechowski joins first baseman Phillip Hartig in 2000, pitcher Randy Corn in 2001 and catcher Richard Jones in 2009 as the only other three Bulldogs to earn second team All-American status.

 

Left-handed pitcher Chris Sale of Florida Gulf Coast was named National Player of the Year.

 

The Citadel faces Virginia Tech to open NCAA Tournament action on Friday at 2 p.m.
