Elon?s Reichenbach Inks Free Agent Deal With Indians

ELON, N.C. -- Elon lefty J.D. Reichenbach became the seventh Phoenix baseball player to receive the opportunity to move his game to the professional ranks as he has signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Indians.  
 
During his senior season with the Phoenix Reichenbach logged 31.1 innings on the mound, striking out 22 hitters.  In 4.2 relief innings at then-24th-ranked North Carolina, Reichenbach fanned a career-high six hitters.  He appeared in 16 games, making four starts.
 
As a junior Reichenbach went 3-1 with victories over Wake Forest, North Carolina State and Georgia Southern.  Reichenbach was the winning pitcher in his first-ever collegiate appearance.  As a freshman, he threw 3.2 scoreless innings in relief against North Florida, allowing just one hit, to pick up the win.
 
Reichenbach compiled a 7-6 record in four seasons with the Phoenix.  Over his 150.1 innings he struck out 99 hitters.
 
Reichenbach joins 2010 Elon teammates Jimmy Reyes (Texas Rangers), Thomas Girdwood (Minnesota Twins), Daniel Britt (Milwaukee Brewers), Mike Melillo (Milwaukee Brewers), Ken Ferrer (Cleveland Indians) and Justin Hilt (Arizona Diamondbacks) who have been given the chance to continue playing baseball.
