TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Samford's 2010 football season-opener at Florida State will be televised live by ESPNU on Sept. 4, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced recently.

The game is scheduled for an 11 a.m. (CDT) start from FSU's Bobby Bowden Field at Doak S. Campbell Stadium.

Samford will be making its fourth appearance on ESPNU, with the first coming in 2005 in a home game against Southeast Missouri. The Bulldogs' games against Georgia Tech and Tennessee State in 2007 were also broadcast on the network.

Samford and Florida State will be meeting for just the second time. The teams first met on Oct. 14, 1950, with FSU winning, 20-6, in Tallahassee, Fla. Samford has played Atlantic Coast Conference teams several times in recent years, as the Bulldogs played at Georgia Tech in 2004, 2006 and 2007.

The game will be the fourth season-opener for Samford head coach Pat Sullivan and his staff. Under Sullivan, Samford is 2-1 in season-opening games, with the lone loss coming in last season's narrow 28-24 loss at Football Bowl Subdivision opponent UCF.

The contest will mark the first game as FSU head coach for former Samford quarterback and assistant coach Jimbo Fisher.
