About the Championship
The 2011 Southern Conference Baseball Championship presented by Carolina Ford Dealers will take place Wednesday, May 25th through Sunday, May 29th in Charleston, S.C. The Citadel will host the tournament at Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park. This will be the 28th annual Southern Conference Baseball Championship.
The tournament will begin on Wednesday, May 25th at 9:00 a.m., and will conclude with the championship game on Sunday, May 29th at 2:00 p.m. (All times are subject to change). The winner of the Baseball Championship receives the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship.
At last year's tournament in Charleston, S.C. a crowd of 4,895, the third-largest in tournament history, witnessed the championship game. Top-seeded and regular season champion, The Citadel, jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second inning and never looked back en route to a 10-3 victory over No. 6 seed Western Carolina, clinching its eighth Southern Conference baseball tournament title. The Southern Conference had three institutions selected to the NCAA Regionals (The Citadel, College of Charleston and Elon University), the most ever for the conference.
