On the close games in the tournament...“In all the games we’ve played, and certainly the whole tournament has had a lot of walk-off type of wins, and it’s a sign of the strength of the conference to have so many close ball games and good battles.  I thought that Western played well.  I thought that both clubs played well.  I’m really proud of our guys.  A couple of breaks here or there, and it could’ve been a different ball game.”

 

On the Senior Class... “They’ll leave a legacy and leave a mark.  The guys that have been here for four years are some of the winningest seniors in the history of the hundred or so history of the program.  Not only that, but they’re great kids and they’re great representatives for Appalachian State, and they’ll certainly be missed.”

On the close games in the tournament... “What an awesome tournament.  We have a great league here.  I think our league nationally is very underrated and deserves a lot more respect than it’s getting.  Our league is outstanding from top to bottom, and I feel that that’s why the tournament has been so tight, well played, excellent baseball games.  Today was no exception?that was an excellent baseball game?no errors, tremendous relief pitching, competitive. Amazing.”

 

On the resiliency of his team... “Well, we talk about adversity as preparation for greatness, and we talked about that between games.  In the game of baseball, there is no clock, and if you fight and you compete, and have the proper attitude, you give yourself the opportunity.  We did that from start to finish tonight, and hopefully we can come out tomorrow with some energy and give the Citadel a game.”

 

On the championship game tomorrow... “Well, that’s where we wanted to be.  You want to get to championship Sunday in these tournaments.  You just survive to get there, and once you get there, anything can happen.  We’re just really pleased?we’re going to enjoy this one tonight, and we’ll start getting after it in the morning tomorrow, getting ready for tomorrow’s game.”

On his game-winning hit... “I was just hoping to get something up in the zone, drive it out into the outfield so the run could score, and win the game.”

 

On the resiliency of the team... “We knew we could do it?we just had to fight.  That all we’ve done all year, just fight through adversity and just keep trying to win games.”
