Western Carolina Catamounts
Head Coach Bobby Moranda
Opening Statement..."We talk about adversity all the time. We talk about adversity as the preparation for greatness. This game was the definition of adversity. For us to persevere down six and also the bad breaks that we didn't execute in extra innings with men in scoring position, for us to overcome that shows me a lot about our character. What we're teaching in our program is with Catamounts, we're fighters. If you look up a Catamount, it's a fierce competitor that will scratch your eyes out. That was a game where we had to fight. It wasn't given to us. Sullivan stepped up, getting him back after eight weeks out is a huge boost to our team and Brandon Johnson was absolutely amazing for us in extra innings."
On having the day off tomorrow... "It's huge. I want to take the guys over and show them the ocean tomorrow. The mountain boys are going to go see the ocean for a day. It's a huge win for our program, a very competitive game. Charleston is a great opponent, they have a great program. A great win for Western Carolina University, no doubt about it."
The College of Charleston Cougars
Head Coach Monte Lee
Opening Statement... "The first game of the tournament was a tough game where we had a big lead and the other team stormed back on us and we had to go to extra innings to get a win. Tonight it just didn't work out for us. I give our guys credit-late in the ball game we made some pretty big pitches and some big defensive plays to keep us in the ball game. The biggest thing that disappointed me tonight is that we had some guys in scoring position early in the game and just could not capitalize."
"Our guys competed. Western Carolina is a good competitive ball club. I've got to give them credit-their guys kept fighting, kept pressing the issue, and they kept getting the leadoff guy on base late in the ball game and it came back to bite us there at the end."
