SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Furman baseball player Daniel Stallsmith has been honored as the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for May 26.
The sophomore pitcher from Huntersville, N.C., is majoring in history and has a 3.80 GPA.
Stallsmith went 1-0 last week as Furman topped UNC Greensboro 11-6. He tossed a career high 8 2/3 innings, while allowing just two hits and maintaining an 11-2 lead heading into the ninth.
The left-hander was 3-0 in the last two weeks and helped Furman register a 6-0 mark to wrap up league play.
With the victory Saturday, the Paladins earned the eighth and final seed in the 2010 Southern Conference Baseball Championship.
