CONWAY, S.C. - Bulldog senior Natalie Wolin won the 3,000m with a time of 10:57.50 as The Citadel successfully competed in their first outdoor meet of the 2010 season at the Battle of the Beaches on Saturday in Conway, S.C.
Quintin Turner placed second in the discus with a mark of 155' 7", just three feet shy of his personal-best. Monique Edwards finished second in the hammer with a toss of 155' 6". She also finished second in the discus with a mark of 121' 11".
The women's 4x800m relay team finished second. Micah Wessinger, Erinn Carter, Sarah Strickland and Katheryn Gatewood ran the second-best time in school history when they recorded a time of 9:54.80.
Herbert Johnson finished third overall in the 3,000m with a personal-best time of 8:56.57 while Emily Green reset her personal-best and improved the fourth all-time record when she threw 139' 2" in the hammer for fourth place.
Daniel Till missed the 10th all-time spot by one second when he ran 10.80 seconds in the 100m dash to finish fourth overall. Zach Johnson finished fifth in the 800m with a time of 1:59.30.
In the hammer, Mia Trevino moved to eight all-time with a personal-best mark of 107' 4" for eighth place and Anna Fuzy threw for ninth place with a personal-best mark of 104' 6'. Fuzy's throw is the ninth-best in The Citadel's top 10 list.
Francesca McCrary placed eighth when she ran a personal-best time of 17.21 to improve the sixth-best time in school history in the 100m hurdles. William Norris showed improvement in opening day as he recorded personal-best marks of 140' 8", 144' 11" and 108' 11" in the hammer, javelin and discus, respectively.
