Wofford Terriers
Head Coach Mike Young
Opening statement ... "Hats off to a very fine Western Carolina team that's been awfully good in our league. I was concerned more so than usual because of their size and their aggressive style. They have tough guys and good players. I think this bunch is on a mission, and we're thrilled we have the opportunity to come over tomorrow night for the championship and represent our conference one more time in this environment."
On the emotions of playing in the championship ... "We've had such a great time and there's been a lot of peaks and valleys and some tough times. To have this team on the brink of something incredibly special is a great thing. Tomorrow will be an incredible challenge. I know one thing. I know we are going to come over tomorrow night and played really hard. I know we are going to play hard and play together. We'll give ourselves a shot."
Junior Forward Terry Martin
On tonight's game ... "Coach always says just play harder than the other team. A lot of times, even if you are at a disadvantage, so that's what we did and went out and played hard. We just take it a game at a time. That's what we've always done. We just play as hard as we can and maintain our identity."
Junior Forward Noah Dahlman
On the team's first ever trip to the championship game ... "This is what you dream about as a kid. My ultimate goal as well as my teammates' goal is just to play in this game. To have an opportunity to do this, I am tickled to death."
Western Carolina Catamounts
Head Coach Larry Hunter
Opening statement ... "I thought Wofford really did a good job the early 10 minutes of the ballgame, really grabbing a lead in the game and establishing both ends of the court much better than we did. We had some moments where we didn't play well offensively and that's a credit for their defense. We didn't shoot a good percentage in the first half and in the second half we held them to a lower percentage. We just couldn't generate enough offense to get them under any kind of pressure."
On the season's reflection and seniors ... "They are great people and they are all going to graduate. They have done everything we have asked them to do and they've gotten better as players throughout their careers. They have worked hard and have really helped turn the program around."
Senior Guard Brandon Giles
On career ... "I would like to thank my coaches. It definitely wasn't the finish that I wanted and I'm disappointed in myself I couldn't do everything possible to help my team win this ballgame. I've enjoyed my teammates, coaches and everything I've been through with them all. I love them all and I'm unsatisfied with the result."
Sophomore Forward Harouna Mutombo
On the seniors ... "Our seniors have been huge. Coming here my freshman year, those were the guys I was really around a lot. I thank them for everything they've done. I'm disappointed in myself I couldn't get this win for them. I didn't want them to go out like this but I want to thank them for everything they have done."
