Head Coach Buzz Peterson
Opening statement ... "Just one of these game you're always concerned about because The Citadel played 40 minutes on this floor before us. We were very excited to be out there. Once we got settled down in the second half, I think we did a very good job of execution and doing what we were supposed to on defense. Overall Citadel is a very good team and very disciplined. Ed Conroy does a terrific job of coaching and getting the max out of his players. It was a good win for us and now we can get ready for our next game. Coming in here, our goal was to win the whole thing."

On Ed Conroy ... "This is a very hard, emotional game. Ed Conroy has meant so much to me and my family. When I took the Tulsa job, he drove my 125-pound dog halfway across the country, and he's allergic to dogs. I always say you got a true friend and a right-hand man, Ed Conroy is mine. Loyal, hard worker, smart, he does it all. Cameron Well is a fine ball player and they have a heck of a ball club coming back. That's not going to be a fun game."

Junior Guard Donald Sims

On early jumper ... "It was a tough shot. At the time, we were up two. It was a good shot for us and it gave us some momentum going into halftime."

The Citadel 

Head Coach Ed Conroy
Opening statement ..."First, I credit App State on a really great performance. We knew they were a handful on the offensive boards. I thought (Donald) Sims made some really big shots and obviously all night we had trouble with them on the boards. Credit them for making the plays they had to make, and that's why they get to advance. I am awfully proud of this group. A lot of things, whether it be the last seconds of games, tough shots and just different things throughout the course of the year, the way this group carried themselves, I am really proud of them."

On the play of Donald Sims ... "I thought not only Donald but his teammates showed great poise in the second half. Part of our strategy in the first half was to get him different looks but also keep the ball out of his hands, and I thought in the second half they made some nice adjustments and didn't panic. Donald had a big-time performance and you love to watch him compete, especially in tournament settings. I thought he showed why he was the player of the year in the league."

Junior forward Bryan Streeter

On App State's size advantage ... "The whole season, we have been a little undersized and we knew that would be to their advantage. You have to give credit to them. They're a really good team and their big men stepped up and played really good. It's frustrating when you try to end a good possession by boxing them out and they use their strength and size to get the extra points and boards. We didn't make some adjustments throughout the game."

On the second half ... "I actually thought we played pretty good defense against them in the second half. They got a lot of second-chance points and converted on most of them, but we tried to keep them away from the boards."
