Head Coach Ed Conroy
Opening statement ... "First off, we knew we had a heck of a challenge coming into tonight. Jimmy Tillette's team is always tough. They execute so well and they're so prepared. I think you saw that in the first couple of possessions when they banged in those 3s on us and stopped us a couple of times. Many times this week, people have talked about how hard it is to beat a team three times in a season, and they showed why. Hats off to Samford. We had a great week of preparation. We didn't close the season the way we wanted to in those past couple of games, but I guess this is a sign of the type of guys we have. They've shown their colors."

Junior Guard Cameron Wells
On the sense of accomplishment the team feels on its first tournament win under Ed Conroy and first since 2006 ... "It feels great, but we know we still have work ahead of us so we don't want to celebrate too much now. We have to keep our heads up and prepare for the next game."

Junior Forward Harrison DuPont
On playing on the biggest stage of his career ... "It was exciting. It's definitely a testament to my teammates and my coaching staff. We work together to get great opportunities and I try to take advantage of them. It's exciting and we're looking to improve for tomorrow night."

Samford Bulldogs

Opening statement ... "First let me congratulate The Citadel. I thought for them Cameron Wells was the difference. We followed him way too much the first half and they just did a good job the whole night of running their offense. I thought we defended reasonably well and I thought they did a good job of not turning the ball over. Our problem was the other end of the floor and it's been that way all year for us. We had four guys score. Our younger guys who have played well for us recently didn't play well offensively. It was certainly our incapacity on offense. When you score 43 points, it's going to be hard to win a game."

On building for next season ... "Some of that is guys that have not played as much this year we are counting on. Some guys who have redshirted, we're counting on. We really think the change we made in our lineup by starting three sophomores, that those guys will be better as juniors. It's disappointing for Josh Davis tonight, just didn't play well. We will make some adjustments here or there but just try to figure out where to be better offensively for sure."

On this season's reflection... "It's been the most difficult season I've ever been associated with. It started out horribly with the passing of Jim Griffin on Sept. 8, my own personal illness and all the other stress factors and things players go through in their own personal lives. I'll say this about our team, it's the worst record I've had as a head coach but it's no reflection on the character of our team. Nonetheless, there are consequences that you understand for your behavior and your choices. You accept them for what they are and you try to move forward and that's what our team tried to do all year. We've never had an effort issue or an off-the-floor discipline issue the whole year."
