Postgame Quotes: Game 2, Western Carolina vs. UNC Greensboro

Western Carolina Catamounts

Head Coach Karen Middleton
Thoughts on the game ... "First of all I thought we showed a lot of heart and character fighting back.  We weren't able to get things going and we were a little out of sync to start with and I think at halftime we regrouped and were able to put things together a little bit and got a little rhythm going but we just fell short.  But I'm really proud of the effort and again the character that we showed."

On the last play of the ball game you had Jessica Jackson one of your seniors taking the last shot, is that something that was drawn up or was it a last second exchange?... "We were looking to go to Emily and she's obviously been drawing a lot of attention, but Emily made the right play and gave to Jess.  It was a good look but it just fell short."

UNC Greensboro Spartans

Head Coach Lynne Agee
On the way the game finished ... "Definitely a wild finish...I think we relaxed a little bit and kind of ran out of gas mentally. I thought we played a real good first half. You knew it was going to be a game. I felt like that was going to happen. It was your classic 8 vs. 9. We were clawing and scratching for everything. We just had a terrific stop there at the end."

On what she said to the before defending the final possession ... "Well, that was the stop to win the game. We needed 14 seconds of defense and I think we played pretty decent defense throughout the course of the game, but I thought we did real well and were moving our feet real well and we had the intensity we needed on that."

On the play of Monique Floyd ... "The difference in the game was Mo Floyd, there's no question about that. She was just powerful on the block. She scored and we just kept calling her number. That kept us in the game."

On facing Chattanooga Friday morning ... "We have two we need to worry about. We either need to contain (Shanara) Hollinquest or we need to contain (Jenaya) Wade-Fray. We need to pick one, pick our poison. Hollinquest is so good. Right, left, powerful, she's agile and quick. No question, we have our hands full. They're rolling, just like they have been for years."

Senior Guard Lakiah Hyson
On her free throws to win the game ... "I was nervous. I had to make them, so I took my time and shot them. I'm just glad. It's overwhelming. I was nervous."
