RICHMOND, Va. -- After a 5-0 week which included a midweek sweep of a two-game series at fifth-ranked Clemson, the Elon Phoenix baseball team was honored as CollegeBaseballInsider.com's "Team of the Week" on Tuesday. Elon also swept a three-game Southern Conference series at Davidson.
Elon began the week with a 15-10 decision over No. 5 Clemson on Tuesday before picking up a 4-3 win in 10-innings over the Tigers the next night. The Phoenix took a Friday game at Davidson by an 8-3 margin and then swept a Saturday doubleheader by scores of 12-4 and 4-2, the final game in 11 innings.
Following the week, Elon also had two players recognized for their performances. Senior first baseman Ryan Adams was selected as the SoCon Player of the Week while junior lefty Jimmy Reyes was named as one of the "Louisville Slugger's" National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
The Phoenix will look to extend its five-game winning streak to six games when it faces the 23rd-rated East Carolina Pirates in Greenville, N.C. at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
