TUCSON, Ariz. -- Following a career night in an 8-3 victory over the Davidson Wildcats, Elon junior left-handed pitcher Jimmy Reyes was named one of the "Louisivlle Slugger's" National Players of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.  It is the first such award for Reyes in his career with the Phoenix.
 
Reyes picked up the win at Davidson after hurling a career-long 8.2 innings and matching his personal-best with 14 strikeouts.  At one point in the contest, Reyes had retired 13 consecutive Wildcat hitters.  He allowed three runs, all in the first inning, and scattered six hits while only walking one.  All but one Davidson hitter was retired via the strikeout at least once.
 
Reyes' performance helped the Phoenix to a 5-0 week, including a two-game midweek sweep at fifth-ranked Clemson.
