SPARTANBURG, S.C. - College of Charleston freshman Jelain McArthur and Elon senior Urysla Cotton have been honored as the Southern Conference Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for all meets March 12-13. The selections are made by the league's track & field coaches.
A native of Laurens, S.C., McArthur registered top two finishes in three events at the Palmetto Classic. Her time of 14.75 in the 100m hurdles took first place. She placed second in the 200m with a time of 25.52 and also took second in the triple jump with a leap of 38'3.5".
Cotton, a senior from Apex, N.C., won the shot put at the Coastal Carolina Invitational. Her toss of 44'9.75" currently leads the league.
The Cougars return to action Thursday when they compete at Costal Carolina's Shamrock Invitational. Next up for the Phoenix are the Raleigh Relays on March 26.

Samford's Lauren D'Alessio, a freshman from Pelham, Ala., who finished second in the 1500m at the Southern Invitational. Her personal best time of 4:40.32 ranks 10th in school history.

The Citadel's Monique Edwards, a graduate student from Kingston, Jamaica, who won the hammer throw at the Palmetto Classic with a toss of 150'3".
