Junior placed second in Jacksonville

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Chattanooga junior Emma de Groot has been selected as the Southern Conference Women’s Golfer of the Week for all competition from March 3-9.

de Groot placed second out of a field of 96 golfers at the JMU/Eagle Landing Invitational, finishing three strokes behind Illinois’ Hailey Koschmann. de Groot was consistent throughout the event, posting rounds of 74-70-73 for a one-over par final total of 217. The junior from Coffs Harbour, Australia, recorded six birdies and an eagle in her three rounds.

The award is de Groot’s second in as many weeks.

Also considered this week were Western Carolina’s Josefine Sundh, UNC Greensboro’s Courtney Taylor and Wofford’s Sarah Herbert.
