SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State's McKenzie Phillips has been tabbed the Southern Conference Player of the Week, while Chattanooga's Brooke Loudermilk has been named the Pitcher of the Week for all games February 22-28. It marks Loudermilk's second honor in as many weeks. The selections are made by the league office.

A junior second baseman from Newton, Ill., Phillips helped lead Appalachian State to a 4-1 record at the North Carolina A&T Invitational. She went 9-for-16 at the plate with a .562 average. Phillips tallied multiple hits in three of her last five games.

In the Mountaineers' 14-6 win against Maryland-Eastern Shore, Phillips was a perfect 3-for-3. She recorded four RBIs in the victory, which set a career best.

Appalachian State is currently 7-3 and off to its best start in school history.

A senior from Locust Grove, Ga., Loudermilk posted three wins as Chattanooga went 4-1 at the Frost Classic. She struck out 20 in 19.0 innings pitched.

Loudermilk earned an extra innings victory in Chattanooga's 6-5 win against Rutgers as the Lady Mocs made two comebacks. She struck out two while only allowing one hit and one earned run. Against Kansas, she fanned six as the Lady Mocs won 6-0.

She is currently 7-2 on the season with one save and a 0.84 ERA. Loudermilk has tallied 69 strikeouts in 50.2 innings.

Also receiving nominations for player of the week were College of Charleston's Amanda Lonergan, Elon's Erin O'Shea, Furman's Morgan Hughey, Georgia Southern's Nina Iduate, UNC Greensboro's Alex Emeterio, Samford's Alex Adams, Chattanooga's Lyndsey Stiles and Western Carolina's Chelsea Schaffer.

Also nominated for pitcher of the week were Appalachian State's Caitlin Wainright, College of Charleston's Alexa Datko, Elon's Erin O'Shea, Furman's Lana Mackey, Georgia Southern's Brianna Streetmon, Samford's Robyn Harmon and Western Carolina's Amber Steinhardt.
