Strange, Edwards Selected Women's Athletes of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Elon senior Jennine Strange and The Citadel's Monique Edwards have been tabbed the Southern Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week for all meets February 18-20. The selections are made by the league's track & field coaches.

A native of Severna Park, Md., Strange posted a time of 2:14.87 in the 800m at the Virginia Tech Challenge. It was a season best mark and currently ranks second in the league.

Edwards, a graduate student from Kingston, Jamaica, was the top collegian in the 20-pound weight throw at the Gamecock Invitational. Her toss of 53-6.25 improved both her second-place standing in the league and her second-place ranking on The Citadel's all-time list.

The Phoenix and the Bulldogs return to action Thursday when they compete at the 2010 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on the campus of Clemson University.

Samford's Morgan Tyler, a senior from Houston, Texas, who won the triple jump at the Tiger Tune-Up with a personal-best jump of 38-11.0. She is currently second on Samford's all-time list.
