It marks the fifth consecutive year that the championships will be held at the 1,800-seat facility.

This year marks the 75^th championship for the men and 23^rd for the women.

The championships begin Thursday at 9 a.m. with the women's pentathlon, followed by four men's heptathlon events at 9:15 a.m. The awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for Friday at 4:40 p.m.

The event is free to the public. Live results will be available at the conclusion of each event here. Daily recaps can be found on the Southern Conference website.

Appalachian State claimed both the men's and women's titles last season. The Mountaineer men will look to win their seventh championship since 2000, while the women are seeking their 16^th overall.

There are 14 defending champions competing in this year's championships, including men's heptathlon winner Matt Boruff from Appalachian State and women's pentathlon champion Lynndsey Hyter of Georgia Southern. Samford's Hillary Neal will look to repeat as the first-place finisher in the mile, while Furman's Monique Ositelu is seeking her second 800m title.

The most recent power rankings, which include meets through February 20, have Appalachian State, Western Carolina and Samford in the top three spots for both men and women. The Mountaineers lead on the men's side and are second for the women, while the Catamounts took first for the women and second for the men. Samford rounds out the top three for both.

The rankings are determined by the top eight times or scores that are reported by the schools for each event that will be conducted at this weekend's championships.
