CHARLESTON, S.C. - Four Bulldogs scored in double figures as The Citadel picked up its fifth win in a row with a 73-56 victory over Western Carolina Thursday night at McAlister Field House. Cosmo Morabbi came off the bench and scored a game-high 16 points for The Citadel, while junior guard Zach Urbanus scored 14.
The Citadel (15-12, 9-6 SoCon) outscored Western Carolina 41-23 in the second half after trailing by one (33-32) at the intermission. The Bulldogs shot 49 percent from the floor, including 10-of-17 from three-point range. The Citadel held Western Carolina to just 33.9 percent shooting for the game.
Brigham Waginger was the only Catamount to score in double figures with 12 points. Junior guard Mike Williams scored nine points off the bench while Kendall Russell pulled down six rebounds for WCU. The Catamounts (19-9, 9-7 SoCon) were outrebounded 34-23 and held to 6-of-20 shooting from three-point range.
Junior guard Cameron Wells scored 13 points for The Citadel, while freshman forward Harrison DuPont recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds off the bench.
The Citadel returns to action Saturday afternoon when the Bulldogs host UNC Greensboro at 1:00 p.m. The game will be televised on SportSouth. Western Carolina travels to face Kent State Saturday night at 8:00 p.m. as part of ESPNU BracketBusters. The game will be televised on ESPNU.
