Appalachian State - Akron Invitational

AKRON, Ohio - The Akron Invitational lived up to its billing as one of the nation's top indoor track and field meets this weekend, and Appalachian State men's track and field proved up to the challenge of competing against a top-notch field. The Mountaineers established eight season-best marks, one personal-best performance and saw their first NCAA qualifying performance of the season as Patrick Morgan set a new-school record in the mile while posting a provisional qualifying time of 4:01.75.

ASU's sprint duo of Dennis Moore and Landon Powell were among the top performers this weekend. Moore took home a first place finish in the 200m dash with a season-best time of 22.14 and a third place finish in the 60m dash with a season-best mark of 6.93. Powell finished just behind Moore in both events, claiming second place in the 200 with a season-best 22.21 and third in the 60m with a 6.96 effort.

In the 800m, seniors Nick O' Keefe and Josh Houser established new season-best marks Saturday. O'Keefe was the top Mountaineer performer with a 1:55.17 time which also set a new team mark for the 2009-10 season. Houser was just behind his classmate with a season-best time of 1:55.79. Sophomore AJ Dohanic also established a new season-best mark in the 400m dash with a 51.46 performance.

Sophomore Sean Soderman set a new personal-best mark in 3000m for the Mountaineers Saturday. The Charlotte native turned in a time of 8:30.95 to earn an eighth place finish in the gold race. In the 3000m blue race, freshman Mike Lilley carded a fifth place finish with a time of 8:54.44.

Two Mountaineers earned top-10 finishes in the heptathlon this weekend. Senior Matt Boruff was the top performer with a score of 4982 to earn a fifth place finish. Junior Jake Goodchild claimed ninth place with a score 4647 points.

Patrick Morgan turned in the top individual performance for the Mountaineers this weekend, setting a new school record in the mile. Morgan, who joined the ASU program this season as a graduate student, turned in a time of 4:01.75 to easily best Todd Goewey's 1984 mark of 4:05.94. In the process, Morgan became the first Mountaineer to qualify for the NCAA Championships, eclipsing the provisional qualifying time of 4:05.30. Morgan was one of four Mountaineers to set season-best marks in the mile, as fellow grad student Brandon Hudgins turned in a time of 4:12.98 to win the "blue" division. Hudgins edged teammates Alex Taylor (4:15.55, 2nd blue) and Josh Houser (4:15.70, 3rd blue).

In the pole vault, junior Mike Wilson and sophomore Jack Bell tied for fourth in the blue division with a mark of 14-7.25.

Sophomore Darius Purcell was another top field performer for the Mountaineers Saturday. The Fayetteville native earned a second place finish with a jump of 6-10.25 while junior Philip Bush finished fourth in the long jump with a 21-08.75 mark.

Junior Malcolm Styers earned another first place finish in the shot put, posting a season-best toss of 52-10.75 to claim first place in the blue division. Styers was joined in the top-five by sophomore Jared Stalling, who earned a fourth place finish with a season-best toss of 48-10.

Appalachian State track and field will have one more tune-up before the SoCon Championships, returning to Boone for the final home indoor meet of the season next Thursday at the Holmes Center.

AKRON, Ohio - Appalachian State women's track and field proved up to the challenge of competing against in one of the country's top indoor meets this weekend, establishing 15 new season-best marks at the Akron Invitational.

Senior Ashley McKiver was one of the top Mountaineer performers this weekend, setting a new season-best mark in the 200m dash with a time of 25.36 to claim second place in the "blue" division. McKiver also established a new season-best in the 60m dash with a time of 7.68 to earn a fifth place finish. McKiver was joined in the top-10 of the 200 by sophomore Christina Parker who posted a season-best time of 25.82 to finish ninth. Parker (7.96) and freshman Shenita Martin (8.08) also established new season-best marks in the 60m dash.

Sophomore Asia Dunlap led a trio of Mountaineers to season-best times in the 400m dash Saturday. Dunlap posted a time of 58.26 to claim a third place finish in the blue division. Freshman D'Shawrna McLucas clocked in with a time of 59.06 to finish 10th, while junior Nadia Liriano finished 11th with a time of 59.09.

Dani Reese established new season-best times in both the 800m and the mile for the Mountaineers Saturday. The Dayton, Ohio native carded a 2:23.71 in the 800m to finish 10th in the blue division and a 5:16.10 in the mile to earn a third place finish in the blue division as well. Freshman Trinity Foreman claimed a fifth place finish in the gold division mile with a season-best time of 5:06.31.

In the 3000m run, freshman Sarah Williamson posted a season-best time of 10:41.71 to earn a seventh place finish in the blue division, while sophomore Kelsey Hanger claimed ninth in the 5000m gold run with a season-best clip of 18:25.21.

Junior Kiara Crutchfield took home 10th place in the women's pentathlon with 3087 points. The Greensboro native established a season-best performance in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.91.

Junior Bianca Harvey was the top Mountaineer performer in the field Saturday, taking home first place finishes in the blue division long jump (18-4.50) and triple jump (38-2.25). Harvey was joined in the top-four of the long jump by Kiara Crutchfield (17-8.25, 3rd) and senior Danielle Thorpe (17-7.50, 4th). Thorpe also added a second place finish in the gold triple jump with a mark of 40-2.

Junior Rebecca Hazeltine claimed a third place finish in the gold high jump with a mark 0f 5-6, while senior Julie Ward earned a second place tie in the pole vault with a 11-1.75 mark.

Freshman Gayshawna Watkins took home a seventh place finish in the blue division shot put with a toss of 41-1.75 and ninth in the blue division weight throw with a season-best mark of 51-5.50.

Appalachian State track and field will have one more tune-up before the SoCon Championships, returning to Boone for the final home indoor meet of the season next Thursday at the Holmes Center.

College of Charleston - UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Freshman jumper Jelain McArthur (Laurens, S.C./Laurens District) continued to break her own school records as the College of Charleston women's track & field team competed at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational on Friday.

McArthur led a contingency of three Cougars in the 60-meter hurdles, where she placed fourth in the preliminaries with a school-record time of 8.93 seconds. Her time is three-tenths of a second faster than the previous record she set at the UNC Classic on Jan. 24. She ran a time of 9.01 seconds in the finals to finish third.

Juniors Isabel Boersma (Franklin, Tenn./Ravenwood) and Brynne Johnson (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) also had good performances in the hurdles. Boersma clocked a time of 9.47 seconds to place 13th and advance to the finals. She recorded a time of 9.50 seconds in the finals to come in 12th. Johnson ran a personal-best time of 9.68 seconds, shaving off thirteen-hundredths of a second from her previous personal record, to place 17th.

McArthur also performed well in the triple jump. Her jump of 38'8¼" is the second-farthest in school history, behind her record-setting performance at the Clemson Games on Jan. 30. McArthur first broke the school record the event at UNC's Eddie Smith Field House on Jan. 24 at the UNC Classic.

In the sprints, junior Mary Zolga (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) led the Cougars by finishing ninth in the 400 meters. Zolga's time of 59.15 seconds is the third-fastest time ever run at College of Charleston. She currently holds the school record, which she at the Southern Conference Championships last year.

CofC track & field will spend the next two weeks preparing for the Southern Conference Championships, held at Clemson University on Feb. 25-26.

The Citadel - UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - For the second consecutive week, redshirt senior Sarah Strickland reset the school record in the mile as The Citadel track and field team successfully competed in the Gene Anderson Invitational on Friday, Feb. 12 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

A native of Belton, S.C., Strickland recorded a time of 5:17.77 for 10th place. She previously improved the school record in the mile on Feb. 6 in Newport News, Va. when she ran 5:18.12.

Micah Wessinger finished second in the 600m with a personal-best time of 1:40.56 and Monique Edwards threw a mark of 47' 7.25" for eighth place in the 20lb. weight throw. Edwards also finished 14th in the shot put with a throw of 34' 4.75".

Emily Green followed Edwards in the 20lb. weight throw as she placed ninth with a mark of 46' 00.75" and Kelsi Billings jumped a mark of 35' 2.00" in the triple jump to finish 14th overall.

Christopher Castagno led the men as he earned a personal-best mark of 53' 2.75" in the 35lb. weight throw to finish second.

Kevin Hardy set a new personal-best record in the 60m dash as he ran a preliminary time of 6.96 seconds. Then he turned around and ran 6.95 seconds to finish ninth overall. Hardy also jumped his best mark of the season, 23' 6.25" in the long jump for fourth place.

Brendan Kight ran 4:20.77 in the mile to finish eighth while Christian Graham placed 11th when he ran a time of 22.68 seconds in the 200m dash.

Quintin Turner recorded a mark of 51' 9.00" for sixth place in the 35lb. weight throw while in the shot put, he placed 10th with a throw of 46' 00.75". 

Coming up next, the Bulldogs will participate in the Gamecock Invitational in Columbia, S.C. on Feb. 20 before the 2010 Southern Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 25-26. Davidson - UNC Invitational

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Tom Divinnie bested his own school record in the mile, finishing in four minutes, 15.48 seconds to lead the Davidson men's track and field team Friday at the Gene Anderson UNC Invitational in Eddie Smith Fieldhouse.

The performance nearly gave the reigning Southern Conference Track Athlete of the month his fourth first-place finish in as many attempts this season. A pair of High Point runners beat him to the line by 0.53 seconds and 0.07 seconds, respectively.

The 'Cats placed a pair in the top 10 of the 3000-meter run. Junior Charlie Schmitt led with a fourth-place finish in 8:47.64, while freshman Demetrios Pagonis placed sixth in 8:49.48.

Senior Peter Bruton moved onto the top-10 performers list in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.57.

Divinnie has altered the Davidson record books each time he has competed this season. The Brentwood, Tenn. native shattered the school standard in the 3000m on the very same track to open the season on Jan. 23, winning the event in 8:24.47. The very next week, he broke both the mile (4:16.30) and 5000m (14:44.59) records at the Liberty Open and was named the SoCon Male Track Athlete of the Week.

The meet was the final tune-up before the Southern Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held Feb. 25-26 at Clemson.

Notes: Assistant coach Allen Simms competed in the long jump and posted the top mark with a leap of 24 feet, 5 ½ inches (7.45m) ... Campbell, Duke, East Carolina, High Point, NC State, UNC and SoCon foe The Citadel were among the schools competing in the meet.

Elon - Liberty Quad

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Veronica Day continued her impressive indoor season, breaking two school records on her way to two individual championships at the Liberty Quad in Lynchburg, Va. Day broke her own school record in the triple jump for the fourth straight meet with a distance of 38'9 ¾". She earned her second championship of the day in the long jump with a mark of 18'11 ¾", breaking a school record that has stood since 2007.
 
The Phoenix success continued in the 5,000-meter run and the 800-meter run, as Allyson Costa and Jennine Strange clocked top times. Costa finished in 18:07.96, while Strange crossed the finish line in 2:18.55.
 
Lauren Hawkesworth came in just behind Day in both the triple and long jump, finishing third and fifth, respectively. In the triple jump, Hawkesworth leapt a 36'¼" and earned a 17'1 ½" mark in the long jump.
 
Jordan Lee and Rachel Banner each recorded heights of 5'1" in the high jump to finish second and fourth. Lee reached the height in fewer attempts, allowing her the second-place finish.
 
Rounding out the field event participants were throwers Alyssa Girvin and Justine Robertson. Girvin threw a fourth-place distance of 46'4 ¼"in the weight, while Robertson earned a 39'9 ¾" in the shot put.  
 
Day earned the second-best collegiate time in the 60-meter dash, finishing the race in 8.06 seconds. Dana Cataldo was the third-best collegian, crossing the line in 8.14 seconds.
 
The Phoenix had two runners with top-five finishes in the 60-meter hurdles, as Andrea March came in third (9.30) and Amanda Rice finished fifth (9.38).
 
Emily Tryon, Courtney Whalen and Caitlin Beeler earned the fourth, fifth and sixth spots in the mile. Tryon led the group with a time of 5:12.97, while Whalen and Beeler clocked times of 5:15.28 and 5:17.38.
 
In the 400-meter dash, Melissa Turowski led the Phoenix with a third-place time of 1:01.18. Amy Salek and Lauren Wilmer finished just behind Turowski in fourth and fifth, with times of 1:01.34 and 1:01.57.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team made up of Day, Turowski, Salek and Strange came in second with a time of 4:05.55.
 
The team will be back in action on February 25-26 when it competes in the Southern Conference Championships in Clemson, S.C.

Furman - Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore Lee Gilmer placed third with a time of 4:16.39 in the mile run to lead the Furman indoor track and field teams Friday in the first day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.

The Paladins had four top-10 finishes for the day, with junior Monique Ositelu finishing fifth in the 1000m with a time of 3:01.80, and senior Brittany Johnson placing sixth in the 5000m with a time of 18:21.91 to lead the women's team.  For the men's team, in addition to Gilmer's third place finish, junior Charles McGoogan placed ninth in the 5000m after posting a time of 15:24.91.

In other men's races, Chris Caldwell placed 13th in the 5000m with a time of 15:35.65, and Jay Miller was 21st in the event after completing the race in 15:51.69.  Brian Toney placed 24th in the 300m with a time of 39.57, while Connor Halliday posted a time of 40.04 for 26th in the event.  Cortez Johnson posted a time of 7.04 and Nathan Wade recorded a time of 7.57 in the 60m trials, and Will Johnson had a time of 10.11 in the 60m hurdles trials.  

For the women's team, sophomore Chloe Kowalski placed 11th in the 5000m with a time of 18:41.36, and junior Julia Bryant was 13th in the event after recording a time of 19:06.20.  In the mile race, Jenna Callahan led the Paladins with a 17th place finish and a time of 5:17.85.  Emily Wirzba was 22nd in the event with a time of 5:23.96, while Hannah Robinson placed 33rd after posting a time of 5:34.09.  Starr Belmont led Furman in the 300m, recording a time of 45.08 for 23rd place.  Megan Slatter was 29th with a time of 47.38, and AnjaLena Cole placed 30th in the event with a time of 47.82.

Day two of the meet begins Saturday at Noon.

CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore Lee Gilmer placed sixth and junior Charlie McGoogan finished tenth in the 3000m to lead the Furman indoor track and field teams Saturday in the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C.

Gilmer posted a time of 8:37.30 in the event, followed by McGoogan with a time of 8:46.68.  Sophomore Chris Caldwell also placed 13th in the 3000m, turning in a time of 8:50.42 to give the Paladins three finishers in the top 15.

In other men's races, freshman Wilkerson Given placed 22nd in the 800m, posting a time of 2:02.30.  In the 400m, sophomore Brian Toney was 23rd with a mark of 55.20, followed by Connor Halliday with a time of 57.69 for 24th place.  Junior Sederrick Cunningham placed 26th in the 200m, recording a time of 23.81, while freshman Scott Des Marais was 22nd in the shot put competition with a throw of 12.34.

The Paladins' distance medley relay team of Emily Wirzba, Monique Ositelu, Starr Belmont, and Jenna Callahan placed sixth with a time of 12:36.55 to lead the Furman women's team.  In the 3000m, sophomore Charlee Coggins placed 19th with a time of 10:52.91, while freshman Jessica Pate recorded a time of 11:36.32 for 29th place.

Two freshmen competed for Furman in the 400m, with Megan Slatter turning in a time of 1:07.87 for 29th place, and AnjaLena Cole placing 30th with a time of 1:08.04.  Junior Shannon Cantwell led the Paladins with a time of 2:35.43 in the 800m, followed by Erin McChristian with a time of 2:37.87.  Stephanie Post placed 32nd in the shot put with a throw of 7.42.

Furman will compete in the Tiger Tune-Up next weekend in Clemson, S.C.

UNC Greensboro - Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Mike Koech and TJ Wyatt both broke school records on Friday night to lead UNC Greensboro on the first day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.

Koech, running in the 5,000 meters, finished in third place with a time of 14:51.21. His time crushed the previous school record set two years ago by almost 16 seconds.

Competing in the 1,000 meters, Wyatt was edged out by just half a second as he finished in second place. His time of 2:30.93 broke the school record by almost six seconds.

On the women's side, freshman Shaina Sumney finished in 11th in the 1,000 meters and was just two seconds away from breaking the school record. Jenna Paley also had a nice run as she set a personal best with her run of 19:10.88 in the 5,000 meters.

The Spartans will resume competition on Saturday at noon.

CLEMSON, S.C. - Sophomore Joey Thompson narrowly won the 800 meter race for UNC Greensboro on the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational in the Clemson Indoor Track & Field Complex.

Thompson, who ran a time of 1:54.13, won his event by just .03 seconds over Clemson's Jason Turnbull. His time was also the second-fastest in school history, just .56 seconds off the school record set by Jeff Williams in 2006.

Jermaine Coore and AJ Savoia also had nice days as they both poster top-20 finishes in the 3,000 meters.

On the women's side, Jade Farlow led a trio of Spartans in the 800 meters with a time of 2:32.41.

The Spartans will return to action on Thursday as they travel up the mountain to compete in the Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C.

Samford - Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Samford University track and field team set six school records in at the Clemson Tiger Paw Invitational this weekend. In three meets in the indoor season, the Bulldogs have walked away from each with at least one school record.

"I believe our athletes did a great job with the adversity that was put in front of them this weekend," Samford Head Coach Rod Tiffin said. "We normally like to get to the meet a day in advance but decided to drive up on Friday this week. Our kids got off the bus and set several season and personal best and six school records.

"Once again, we had some great individual performances from Cameron Bean, Blaise Carie, Hillary Neal, Patrick Wells and Michael Seaman," Tiffin said. "Those guys keep getting better each week and performing to the best of their abilities."

On Friday, Cameron Bean highlighted the action as he set a school record in the men's 5000 meters. His time of 14:28.87 was also a personal best and landed him in second place. Then on Saturday, Bean won the men's 3000 meters with a time of 8:27.65.

Hillary Neal took second place in the women's mile with a time of 4:57.90 followed by Lauren D'Alessio in eighth place with a time of 5:08.17. Holly Benson finished 13th with a time of 5:13.52. In the men's mile, Blaise Carie took seventh place with a time of 4:17.93 while Scott Cope recorded a personal best time of 4:21.05 to take ninth place. Will Denton came in 16th place with a time of 4:26.24.

Chinedu Amah broke his own school record in the triple jump with a leap of 45-09.75 to take third in the event.

Also on Friday, Jessica Lucas launched a school record in the women's weight throw with a toss of 38-06.75.

Jessica Van Ausdall grabbed third place and posted a school record in the women's 1000-meter run with a time of 3:00.76 while Alli Keithan (3:16.04) took 15th place and Christi Gaskill (3:25.38) took 21st place. Chas Keithan grabbed fourth place in the men's event with a time of 2:32.04.

McGuire also placed ninth in the women's 500 meters with a time of school record time of 1:22.02 followed by Ashley Bridenbaugh (1:23.66) in 11th place and Emily Allen (1:24.66) in 12th place.

Ashley Dance ran a school record of 42.46 in the 300 meter dash while taking 10th place in the event. Tatum Moffett (42.68) 11th place while Leslie Graf took 17th place with a time of 43.57. Dance also took 12th in the 400 meters with a time of 59.74. Keithan grabbed 14th place in the men's event with a personal best of 51.77.

In the women's 5000 meters, Ina Ables grabbed fifth place with a time of 17:56.08 while Jillian Klassen took 22nd place with a time of 19:36.51 and Lauren Pilcher came in 26th with a time of 20:42.83.

Riley Hawkins notched a personal best in the men's 60-meter dash preliminaries with a time of 7.08. Leslie Graf posted a personal best of 27.08 in the women's 200 meter dash while Bobby Ellision recorded a personal best of 24.32 in the men's event.

In the women's 60-meter hurdle preliminaries, Morgan Tyler just missed the finals, placing 12th with a time of 9.07. Julie McDonald and Christian McGuire both recorded personal best marks - McDonald with a time of 9.42 and McGuire with a time of 9.57.

Gaskill also placed 27th place in the women's 3000 meter run with a time of 11:27.31. Alli Keithan led the Bulldog women in the event with a personal best of 10:57.22 to finish 20th place followed by Deanna Zidar who finished 23rd with a time of 11:04.00.

Ramsey White placed 14th in the men's 800 meter run with a time of 1:58.78 while Andrea Nall placed 43rd in the women's event with a time of 2:37.01.

In the field events, Tyler took ninth in the women's long jump with a leap of 17-09.00 while Allen posted a personal best in the same event with a distance of 16-07.25. Allen also took fifth place in the women's triple jump with a personal best of 37-00.50 while Tyler grabbed eighth place with a distance of 36-07.75. Brandon Bassett posted a personal best leap in the men's event with a distance of 42-07.50.

Bo Ackesron-Gilroy took fifth place in the men's high jump with a height of 6-04.25 while Chenelle Terry placed third in the women's event with a personal best of 5-07.00.

Chris Davis took 14th place in the men's shot put with a distance of 43-08.75.

In the women's pole vault, Laura Bedsole and Mackenzie Wills took fourth and sixth places with a height of 11-04.50 while Mary Barron placed 10th with a height of 10-10.75.

In the men's pole vault, Patrick Wells and Michael Seaman landed in the top three yet again this week. Wells grabbed second place with a personal best of 16-06.00 while Seaman placed third with a height of 16-06.00 as well. Ryan Cook grabbed sixth place with a height of 15-00.25. 

The women's distance medley relay team (Van Ausdall, Benson, Neal, D'Alessio) took second with a time of 12:01.48 while the men's team (Cope, Corcoran, Denton, Carie) won the men's event with a time of 10:12.87.

The women's 4x400 relay team (Moffett, Dance, Graf, Bridenbaugh) took eighth place with a time of 4:01.61 while the men's team (Cooper, Cordner, Denton, Corcoran) grabbed sixth place with a time of 3:27.69.

"I really feel, with another week of preparation, we should be ready for the conference championships in two weeks," Tiffin said. "I am happy with the effort we are putting out and feel we are getting better day by day."

The Bulldogs will be back in Clemson, S.C., next weekend for the Tiger Tune-Up before returning again in two weeks for the Southern Conference Championships (Feb. 25-26).

Western Carolina - Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Western Carolina indoor men and women's track and field team earned 11 top-ten performances in day one of the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson University.

Altogether, five Catamounts earned season highs in their respective events.

The lone podium finish for WCU was senior Matt Evans, who tied for second in the men's long jump event, with a distance mark of 2.04 meters. Women's distance runners Jordan Gaddy (5:07.15, 7th) and Morgan Turner (5:08.24, 9th) tallied season highs in the mile run.

Senior Dominique Young ran the 60-meter hurdles with a season-mark of 6.78 to place second in the preliminaries. Young earned fourth in the finals with a time of 6.86. Teammate Christian Bethune earned seventh in the finals with a split even time of 7.00.

In the women's 60-meter hurdles, Nicole Okolo placed ninth in the prelims with a season-best time of 8.92 seconds.

In the distance events, Stephen Hammond (4:16.86) set a season high and earned fourth in the mile run, while Nolan Clark placed seventh (15.21.15) in the 5,000-meter run.

Freshman Cordell Livingston placed third in the men's 60-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 8.02. Livingston, a native of High Point, N.C., placed fourth in the finals with a run of 8.11.

Senior Cale McDaniel earned the other top-ten finish in the field event with a sixth place standing (17.27 meters) in the weight throw.

Jettana Thomas ran the 500-meter dash in a time of 1:21.94 for an eighth place finish for the Catamount women. In the weight throw event, Zakiyyah Stewart threw a distance of 14.65 meters for a ninth place mark.

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Western Carolina men and women's indoor track and field team earned six podium finishes on Saturday to close out the Tiger Paw Invitational hosted by Clemson University. WCU earned a total of seven top-three placements in the two-day meet, including winning a pair of individual events.

The women's 4x400 relay team (Shalyn McMichael, Felicia Paulding, Felisha Garren and Jane't Carothers) earned first with a time of 3:47.15 to capture their fifth title in the event this season.

Freshman Cordell Livingston continued his strong rookie campaign with an individual title in the men's triple jump with a distance of 14.40 meters.

Other individual podium finishes included a pair in the sprinting events. Senior Dominique Young earned second in the men's 200-meter dash with a time of 22.05. Meanwhile, Benny Davis placed second in the 400-meter dash (49.77 seconds).

The  women's distance medley squad (Jordan Gaddy, Emma Bowers, Hannah Bowers and Morgan Turner) earned third with a season-high time of 12:21.42.The men (Brandon Hairston, Dominique Young, Drew Tucker and Benny Davis) ran the 4x400 relay in 3:19.03 for a third place standing.

Three individuals earned fourth-place finishes in the women's 400-meter dash (Felisha Garren, 57.10), women's 200-meter dash (Jane't Carothers, 25.17) and the 3,000-meter run (Josey Weaver, 8:35.58).

Distance runners Drew Tucker (800-meter run, 1:55.31) and Stephen Hammond (3,000-meter run, 8:36.14) both earned fifth in their respective events.

In the field events, Mike O'Steen (pole vault, 4.73m), Zakiyyah Stewart (shot put, 13.44m) and Cale McDaniel (shot put, 15.79m) all garnered fifth.

In the men's distance medley, WCU (Stephen Hammond, Marcus McClary, Jestin Jennings, Nolan Clark) earned sixth with mark of 10:29.06.

The Catamounts will participate in Mountaineer Open in Boone, N.C. next Thursday, February 18, before the Southern Conference Championships (Feb. 26-27) in Clemson, S.C.

Wofford - Tiger Paw Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - Competing at the Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C., the Wofford men's and women's track and field teams set five new school records, three on the women's side and two for the men.

For the women, freshman Niki Klasnic established a school record time of 2:25.64 in the 800 meter run, placing 28th. Klasnic also set a school record in the one mile run, clocking in with a 5:26.27 time. Both times are also freshman records.

Fellow freshman Andrea Kelsey ran the 5000 meter run in a time of 18:29.94, beating the previous school record by more than 30 seconds.

Senior Paul Vecchione led the Terrier men, setting a Wofford record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.15. Freshman Trey Parker established a school record in the 3000 meter run, finishing in a time of 9:06.85.

The track and field teams will next compete at the Southern Conference Indoor Championships, held in Clemson, S.C. on February 25-26.

Chattanooga - Middle Tennessee Valentine Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Junior Anneli Uys led three Chattanooga runners in a sweep of the 3,000 meter race at the Middle Tennessee Valentine Invitational at the Murphy Center Saturday.

Uys, ran the race in a time of 10:11.83 followed by teammate freshman Kathryn Stuart in second with a time of 10:24.23. Freshman Heather Stuive was third overall with a time of 10:34.03. In the women's Mile run, freshman Amanda Sumner was fourth with a time of 5:17.32 and classmate Mary Cumbee placed fifth with a time of 5:18.73.

On the men's side, junior Chris Berry led four Chattanooga runners to top 10 finishes in the Mile run. Berry was second with a time of 4:15.69 followed immediately by fellow junior Emmanuel Kirwa at 4:16.25. Senior David Moore was sixth with a PR of 4:22.57 and freshman Lucas Cotter was seventh with a time of 4:23.13.

Freshman Haley Horsch was seventh in the women's 400 meter run and senior Shelley Taylor placed eighth in the women's 800 meter run.

"We're making progress," Chattanooga Head Coach Bill Gautier said. "We're getting everybody where they need to be for conference."

The Running Mocs will have the next two weeks off in preparation for the Southern Conference Championships to be held Feb. 25-26 at the Clemson Indoor Facility in Clemson, S.C.
