Sophomore went 3-0 last week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? Appalachian State sophomore Austin Trotman has been selected as the Southern Conference Wrestler of the Week for all competition from February 3-9.

Trotman, a sophomore from Winston-Salem, N.C., was 3-0 overall last week and 2-0 in the SoCon. He topped Chattanooga’s Jason McCroskey, 9-4, on Saturday while also defeating Northern Iowa’s Scott Hazen, 11-4, in a non-conference match. In Tuesday’s 42-8 Mountaineers win over Davidson, Trotman pinned the Wildcats’ Mark Jeevratnam in the first period.

Trotman is a combined 19-5 on the season, including 11-1 at 184 pounds, and he is 4-0 in Southern Conference matches.

Other wrestlers receiving consideration this week were The Citadel’s Odie Delaney and Chattanooga’s Josh Statum.
