SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Southern Conference men's basketball teams learned their opponent for the ESPN BracketBuster Monday (Feb. 1) as pairings were announced for the participants.  The event is scheduled to take place February 19-20 with four of the Southern Conference's 12 teams taking part in the event.  College of Charleston and Western Carolina were chosen to have their games televised by the ESPN family of networks. The Cougars will visit George Mason while Western Carolina visits Kent State.   Appalachian State will host Tennessee Tech, while Elon will visit Gardner-Webb. 

College of Charleston (14-8, 9-2 SoCon) and George Mason (15-7, 10-1 CAA) will tip off at 8:00 p.m. on February 20.  The game will be televised by ESPN2.  The Cougars are 2-1 all-time in BracketBuster games. College of Charleston is 2-0 against the Patriots.

Western Carolina (17-5, 7-3 SoCon) is making its first appearance in the BracketBuster series.  The Catamounts visit Kent State on February 20.  The game will be televised on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m.  Western Carolina's only meeting with Kent State was an 89-84 win in overtime for the Catamounts on December 6, 2008.

Appalachian State (12-10, 6-4 SoCon), which is 1-2 in BracketBuster games, takes on Tennessee Tech (12-10, 6-5 Ohio Valley) in Boone, N.C.  The Mountaineers are 3-2 against Tennessee Tech, including a 98-87 win in their most recent meeting on November 27, 2004. 

Elon (4-16, 2-7 SoCon) is 10-23 all-time against Gardner-Webb (6-15, 3-8 Big South).  The Phoenix and Bulldogs will tip off at 7:00 p.m. February 20.  Elon fell to UNC Wilmington, 75-72 in last year's BracketBuster game. 

The Southern Conference is 9-11 all-time in BracketBuster games.
