SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Kendra Berry, a senior women's basketball player at Furman, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 8, the league office announced today.
The Albany, Ga., native holds a 3.49 GPA in sociology.
The Furman forward averaged 11.5 points and 11.5 rebounds per game for the week as the Paladins went 2-0 with wins over Charleston Southern and Erskine College. In the 71-70 win over Charleston Southern, Berry had 12 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high five assists. She followed that performance with a strong game against Erskine, tallying 11 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Berry shot 50 percent (9-for-18) from the field for the week, and she has now recorded three straight double-doubles. Berry has been instrumental in the Paladins' four-game winning streak, which is the longest streak for Furman since the 2004-05 season.
