ELON, N.C. -- Elon seniors Sean Jeffcoat and John Rubertone will have one last chance to play in a collegiate football game. The duo has been selected to play in the inaugural FCS Senior Scout Bowl which will be played in Hillburn, N.Y. on Saturday, December 11 at 2 p.m. Phoenix fans can tune in and watch the game live on the Fox College Sports Network. The pair will suit up for the South team in the game that features a North-South format.
The game is being put on by the Collegiate Development Football League and will feature players from across the FCS ranks. Participants will also be able to showcase their talents for NFL scouts both during the game and at a combine earlier in the week.
Jeffcoat, a wide receiver, was a second-team All-Southern Conference selection this year after he put up career-best numbers of 72 receptions for 1,025 yards and seven touchdowns. He was one of three SoCon receivers to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark during the regular season. Jeffcoat posted five 100-yard games during the 2010 campaign, concluding the year with a career-high 161 yards on seven catches and a touchdown in a win over Western Carolina.
Rubertone, an offensive lineman, started all 11 games for the Phoenix this year. He ended his career with 37 career starts. A team captain, his performance helped the Phoenix rank first in the SoCon and second nationally in passing offense (322.36 yards per game) and first in the league and ninth nationally with 435.18 total offensive yards per outing.
