Delaney and Luvsandorj Place at Penn State Open
State College, Pa. - The Citadel wrestling squad wrapped up action at the Penn State Open on Sunday as 22 Bulldog grapplers competed against tough competition from around the nation.
Redshirt sophomore Odie Delaney and sophomore Turtogtokh Luvsandorj found the most success on the mat as Delaney took second at heavyweight, while Luvsandorj grabbed third place at 165 pounds.
Starting off with a major deicison over Maryland's Tom Sitar, Delaney then ripped off three straight pins to reach the heavyweight championship match, pinning Old Dominion's Michael Chapman, Boston University's Kevin Innis and Michigan State's Joseph Rizqallah in the process. In the title match, Eastern Michigan's David Wade was too much as he won via tech fall. Delaney improved his record on the season to 5-3 with the second place finish.
Luvsandorj improved to 13-3 on the season as he won his first three matches, all by decision before narrowly falling to Penn State's Dirk Cowburn, 6-4. In the third place match at 165 pounds, the sophomore bested Bufalo's John-Martin Cannon, 7-4, to take the title.

After winning his first three matches, two of which were by pins, Oddo was ousted by eventual champion Mike Letts of Maryland in the quarterfinals at 174 pounds. Redshirt senior Tyler Sim attempted to place for the second straight year at this event and won his first two matches at 133 pounds before falling in the quarterfinals and in the consolation bracket to finish at 2-2 on the day.
