SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Monique Floyd, a senior women's basketball player at UNCG, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 15, the league office announced today.
The Fairmont, N.C., native holds a 3.80 GPA in recreation and parks management.
The Spartan guard scored a season-high 19 points along with a team-best seven assists and four rebounds to lead UNCG to a 73-58 win over Radford this past weekend. Floyd shot 80 percent from the floor against the Highlanders, scoring 12 straight Spartan points and drawing three straight "and-one" opportunities in the second-half to help UNCG pull away for the win. Her seven assists were one shy from her career-high. Floyd also added her first blocked shot of the season against Radford.
Other nominees included Davidson men's basketball player Brendan McKillop and Georgia Southern women's basketball player Meredyth Frye.
