Samford's London Named Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford guard Emily London has been selected the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games played December 7-13.

The senior from Lexington, Ky., helped lead the Bulldogs to wins last week over Berry College and Clemson.  Against Berry, London scored 17 points in only 21 minutes of action, as the Bulldogs won 95-59.  Against Clemson, the Samford guard scored another 17 points and was a perfect 8-of-8 from the free-throw line, as the Bulldogs defeated Clemson 58-48, helping Samford to its first  win over an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent in program history.

London leads the conference in both free-throw percentage (.964) and three-point field goal percentage (.487), and she is currently ranked fourth and 12th nationally in those categories, respectively.

London and the Bulldogs jump back into conference play this weekend as they travel to Charleston to take on the Cougars Saturday, Dec. 18, and then play Georgia Southern on the road Monday, Dec. 20.

Other top performers in the opening week of play were Chattanooga's Whitney Hood, Georgia Southern's Jamie Navarro, UNCG's Monique Floyd, Western Carolina's Emily Clarke and Wofford's Mahagony Williams.
