SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Courtney Freeman, a sophomore women's basketball player at Appalachian State, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for December 1, the league office announced today.
The Carlton, Ga., native holds a 3.67 GPA in nursing.
The Mountaineer forward tied a career-high with 20 points in a 100-67 conference win over Elon. Freeman was Appalachian State's second leading scorer in the game, and she went 8-13 from the field and 4-5 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed six rebounds and had two assists in the contest. It marked the fourth consecutive game that Freeman scored in double-figures.
Other nominees included Furman women's basketball player Kaitlin Murphy and UNCG women's basketball player Amanda Leigh.
