SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A.J. Harris, a junior football player at Elon, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 3, the league office announced today.
The Ocean View, N.J., native holds a 3.41 GPA in media arts and entertainment.
Last weekend, Harris helped the Phoenix to a 49-35 win over Chattanooga. Harris rushed for a personal-best four touchdowns on runs of 14, three, 25 and one yard. The Elon running back also set career-highs with 31 carriers and 163 rushing yards. He also added three receptions for another 17 yards to finish with a career-best 180 all-purpose yards. Harris was named the Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office for his efforts on the field.
Other nominees included Appalachian State men's cross country runner Will Raby, The Citadel football player Tolu Akindele, Davidson volleyball player Sarabeth Peele, Georgia Southern volleyball player Kate Van Dyke, UNCG women's cross country runner Ashley Schnell and Chattanooga men's cross country runner Chris Berry.
