SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Joel Bradford, a junior football player at Chattanooga, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 24, the league office announced today.
The Chattanooga, Tenn., native holds a 3.52 GPA in finance.
In the Mocs season-finale at No. 7 Wofford, Bradford had a game-high eight catches for 121 years. The wide receiver went over the 100-yard mark for the fourth time this season, and he did it against the best passing defense in the Southern Conference. His 121 receiving yards helped him break the Chattanooga school-record with 1284 receiving yards on the season, which is also good for the sixth highest total in league history. Bradford ranks first in the SoCon and second in the nation in receiving yards on the season, and his 81 catches on the year puts him second in the conference and seventh in the nation.
Other nominees included The Citadel football player Travis Ruff, Davidson men's basketball player J.P. Kuhlman, Georgia Southern volleyball player Kate Van Dyke, UNCG women's basketball player Monique Floyd and Wofford men's basketball player Jamar Diggs.
