Coleman Honored as Student-Athlete of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - B.J. Coleman, a junior football player at Chattanooga, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 17, the league office announced today.

The Chattanooga, Tenn., native holds a 3.33 GPA in communications.

Last week, Coleman led the Mocs to a 48-14 win over Samford, clinching back-to-back winning seasons for UTC since the 1990 and 1991 seasons.  The quarterback threw for 319 yards and four touchdowns.  Coleman averaged 26.6 yards per completion, and he had seven completions for over 20 yards and three for over 40 yards.  He passed former Chattanooga quarterback Cedric Stevens (2004) for No. 3 on UTC's single-season list for passing yards with 2,786 with still one more regular season game to play.  Coleman's 26 passing touchdowns is one shy of the single-season school record set in 1999 and is tied for the fifth-highest single season total in SoCon history.

Coleman and the Mocs close out the regular season this weekend with a road matchup with Wofford.

Other nominees included Georgia Southern football player Chris Rogers and UNCG women's cross country runner Ashley Schnell.
