SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Maggie Seeds, a junior volleyball player at Appalachian State, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for November 10, the league office announced today.
The Clemmons, N.C., native holds a 3.96 GPA in physics.
Last week, Seeds posted three stellar outings to help the Mountaineers go 3-0, earning important wins over North Division rivals. In a sweep of Western Carolina, the outside hitter totaled 10 kills, hitting .400 in the match, while also tallying two block assists. Against Chattanooga, Seeds had 11 kills, hitting .714 and registered two block assists along with a block solo in the sweep of the Lady Mocs. In the final match of the weekend, a 3-1 win over Samford, the junior had another double-digit kill performance with 10, while hitting .421 and recording four block assists.
Other nominees included The Citadel football player Tolu Akindele and UNCG women's soccer player Kelsey Kearney.
