SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mitch Allen, a junior football player for Wofford, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for October 20, the league office announced today.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native holds a 3.94 GPA in physics.
Last weekend, Allen led the Terriers with a career-high 178 rushing yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries for an 11.9 yards per carry average. In his second 100-year rushing game of the season, Allen helped his team to a 42-14 win over Western Carolina. Wofford, as a team, had 501 rushing yards and 590 yards of total offense in the win.
Other nominees included Appalachian State men's soccer player Nate Latigue, Davidson women's soccer player Allison Drutchas, Georgia Southern volleyball player Kate Van Dyke, UNCG men's cross country runner Joey Thompson, Samford women's cross country runner Lauren D'Alessio and Chattanooga men's cross country runner Chris Berry.
