ASU Women's Golf Places Third in Charleston

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Two players tied for 10th place to pace Appalachian State University women's golf to third place at the Charleston Southern Wendy's Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The Mountaineers shot a 306-314=620 (+52) for their third-straight top-three finish this fall.

Sophomore Kristina Boo (Hasselholm, Sweden/Tekniska Skola) finished with a 77-76=153 (+11) and fellow sophomore Rumbidzai Masamvu (Harare, Zimbabwe/Dominican Convent) matched her with rounds of 72 and 81 to tie for 10th place at the event. Masamvu's first-round eagle was one of just four at the event and her seven birdies also led the field of 68 golfers.

Classmate Yue Xu (Beijing, China/HuiJia Private School) was consistent at the event with a 78-77=155 (+13) to tie for 13th while Mimi Burke (Mooresville, N.C./Cannon School) carded a 79-80=159 (+17) to place 21st.

Kerri Dice (Chapel Hill, N.C./East Chapel Hill) placed 44th at 84-83=167 (+15).

ASU's 16 birdies led the 13-team field and the Mountaineers' 93 pars were the third-most in the event at Coosaw Creek. 

Behind medalist Minjoo Lee (146 = +4), Bucknell claimed the team title at 602, 11 strokes ahead of Alabama-Birmingham.

From the Southern Conference, The Citadel finished 13th at the tournament with a 676 (+108).

The tournament marks the end of Heather Brown's squad's fall slate, as the Apps look ahead to a challenging spring schedule, including the Southern Conference Tournament in April.
