ASU's Masamvu Tied for Individual Lead

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Appalachian State University women's golf is two strokes off the lead following Monday's first round at the CSU Wendy's Invitational with a 306 (+22). Rumbidzai Masamvu is tied for the individual lead at 72 (+1).

The sophomore was just one of three players to record an eagle in the round, and her four birdies lead the field of 68 golfers.

Kristina Boo is tied for 10th place at 77 (+6) while fellow sophomore Yue Xu is 14th, just one stroke back.

Mimi Burke is tied for 18th place at 79 (+8) with three birdies and Kerri Dice is 48th with an 84 (+13).

The Mountaineers' combined +4 on par-three holes was the best mark of the day, while the squad's eight birdies were the second-most.

Bucknell leads the event at 304 (+20), two strokes ahead of ASU and Alabama-Birmingham. Radford is fourth place, five strokes behind. The Highlanders' Hannah Coles is tied with Masamvu for the lead.

Also competing from the Southern Conference, The Citadel is in 13th place at 345 (+61).
