SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Sarah Schermerhorn, a senior volleyball for Elon, has been named the Southern Conference Student-Athlete of the Week for October 13, the league office announced today.
The Colfax, N.C., native holds a 3.96 GPA in economics.
Last weekend, Schermerhorn led the Phoenix with a .303 attack percentage in two Southern Conference wins against UNCG and Furman. Schermerhorn recorded 27 kills and led the team with nine blocks in the two matches to help the Phoenix improve to 5-1 in conference play and into first place in the North Division.
Other nominees included Appalachian State men's soccer player Sean Dreybus, Davidson men's soccer player Allen Page, UNCG women's soccer player Kelsey Kearney, Chattanooga volleyball player Courtney Barnes, and Western Carolina women's soccer player Laura Greb.
