SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford's Layton Dorsett has been honored as the men's Southern Conference Runner of the week for his performance during the weekend of October 8-9, the league office announced today.
Dorsett, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., helped lead Samford to a second place finish as a team at the Samford Invitational. He ran the slow and tough 8K course in 27:17 for an eighth place individual finish. The course was a preview of the NCAA South Regional Championships that Samford will be hosting on Nov. 13.
The Bulldogs return to action on Oct. 16, when the team travels to Chattanooga, Tenn., for the Front Runner Invitational.
