Appalachian State - Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Appalachian State men's track closed out another successful meet Saturday, with seven Mountaineers establishing new season-best marks at the Liberty Open.

Freshman Landon Powell had another strong outing for the Mountaineers this weekend, placing third in the 60m dash with a time of 6.96 and fifth in the 200m dash. Powell was joined in the top-eight of the 60 classmate TJ Lockard who finished fifth with a season-best time of 7.00 and senior John Svoboda (7.11, 8th place).

Svoboda took home a first place finish in the 200m with a time of 22.41, and was joined in the top-eight by Powell, freshman Justin Thomas (23.56, 7th place) and Lockard (23.62, 8th place).

Freshman Tyler Combs earned a fifth place finish in the 400m dash with a time of 52.85, and sophomore AJ Dohanic added a sixth place finish in the 500m dash.

Senior Matt Boruff took home fourth place finishes in the 60m hurdles and the high jump for the Apps Saturday. Boruff was joined in the 60m hurdle finals by teammate Philip Bush, who earned an eighth place finish with a time of 8.74. Bush also claimed a sixth place finish in the long jump with a 21-10 leap.

Patrick Morgan narrowly missed out on setting a new school record in the 1000m run Saturday. Morgan, who joined the Apps as a graduate student this season, turned in a first place time of 2:27.77 that fell just .13 seconds short of Todd Goewey's 1985 mark of 2:27.64. Brandon Hudgins took home second place in the 1000m with a time of 2:29.44 that ranks third all-time at ASU.

Distance standouts Josh Houser (4:20.09) and Bud Galloway (4:21.66) took home fourth and fifth place finishes in the mile for the Mountaineers Saturday.

Freshman Michael Lilley led a trio of Mountaineers in the 3000m run with a season-best time of 8:45.07 to earn a fourth place finish. Sophomore Mason Campbell followed closely behind with a personal-best mark of 8:47.55 to finish fifth, and freshman Will Raby claimed sixth with a season-best 8:48.69.

Sophomore Darius Purcell led the App high jumpers with a personal best mark of 6-10.75 en route to a second place finish. Purcell was joined in the top five by Matt Boruff (6-4.75, 4th place) and freshmen Colin Reber and Brad Triplett who tied for fifth with leaps of 6-2.75.

Sophomore Jack Bell and junior Ryan Twiford tied for third in the pole vault with a 14-3.25 mark.

Junior Malcolm Styers led the Mountaineer throwing contingency again Saturday, taking home a first place finish in the weight throw and a second place finish in the shot put. Styers was joined in the top-five of the weight throw by junior Tim Daly (52-08.25, 4th place) and sophomore Jared Stalling (52-02, 5th place). In the shot put, junior Jerod Gardner claimed third with a 49-06.50 toss and Stalling took home seventh place with a season-best throw of 47-06.50.

Appalachian State track and field will enjoy a weekend off, before returning to action February 12-13 at the Akron Invitational at Akron, Ohio.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Appalachian State women's track and field had a successful trip to the Liberty Open, with nine season-best marks bettered over the course of the two-day meet.

Senior Ashley McKiver was among the top Mountaineer performers in Lynchburg, establishing new season-best times in both the 60m and 200m dash. The High Point native took home first place in the 60m with a time of 7.75 and second place in the 200m after posting a 25.76. McKiver was followed closely by junior Kiara Crutchfield, who placed third with a time of 26.02.

Crutchfield also took home a second place finish in the 60m hurdles Saturday after turning in a season-best time of 8.96. Crutchfield's time is also the top performance by a Mountaineer athlete in the 60m hurdles in the 2009-10 season. Crutchfield was followed closely by junior Michelle Brutus who claimed a third place finish with a season- best time of 9.11.

Three Mountaineers placed in the top-five of the 400m dash Saturday, led by senior Lynda Hiller. Hiller claimed a third place finish after posting a season-best time of 60.56. She was joined in the top-five by classmate Nadia Liriano (61.04, 4th place) and freshman D'Shawrna McLucas (61.23, 5th place).

For the first time this season, Appalachian got a chance to compete in the 500m dash and it proved to be a welcome change of pace for the Mountaineers. ASU placed three athletes in the top-five led by freshmen Shenita Martin who placed third with a time of 1:21.87. Martin was followed by Michelle Brutus (1:24.10, 4th place) and sophomore Naadia Crutchfield ( 1:24.52, 5th place).

Crutchfield, who was the lone Mountaineer to participate in Friday's pentathlon, turned in a solid fourth place finish with a total of 2835 points. This weekend's meet was also the first time this season that the Apps have competed in a scored pentathlon.

Senior Hannah Parks set a new team mark in the mile run for the 2009-10 indoor season. Parks posted a time of 5:06.48 to earn a second place finish. Freshman Trinity Foreman was close behind in third place with a season-best time of 5:09.99 and junior Dani Reese took home sixth place honors with a time of 5:21.23.

In the 3000m run, sophomore Kelsey Hanger earned a sixth place finish with a time of 10:31.04 to establish a new season best. Freshman Sarah Williamson also turned in a season-best mark of 10:43.42 to finish seventh.

Junior Rebecca Hazeltine earned a first place finish for the Mountaineers in the high jump Saturday. The Weddington, N.C. native took home the top spot with a mark of 5-5. Teammates Julie Ward (5-3, 2nd place) and Bridgette Hills (5-1, 7th place) also turned in strong performances in the high jump for ASU as well.

Ward also had a solid showing in the pole vault, finishing in a first-place tie with teammate Ashley Beale after both Mountaineers cleared 11-5.75. Freshman Meredith Wilson finished in a third-place tie after clearing 10-11.75 to match her season-best.

A trio of Mountaineers earned top-five finishes in the long jump led by Kiara Crutchfield who took home second place with a mark of 18-2.25. She was joined in the top-five by junior Bianca Harvey (17-11.75, 4th place) and senior Danielle Thorpe who placed fifth after posting a season-best mark of 17-10.75.

Thorpe also took home first place in the triple jump with a 38-02.75 mark and was joined by Harvey who placed sixth with a 36-07 distance.

In the throwing events, freshman Gayshawna Watkins stepped up in the absence of Whitney Smyre to earn a first place finish in the shot put with a toss of 40-10.25. The Forest City, N.C. native followed up her shot put performance with a fifth place in the weight throw.

Appalachian State track and field will enjoy a weekend off, before returning to action February 12-13 at the Akron Invitational at Akron, Ohio.

Davidson - Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG Va. - Senior Tom Divinnie rewrote the Davidson men's track and field record books for the second time in as many meets, winning the 5000-meter run at the Liberty Open in a school-record, 14 minutes, 44.59 seconds Friday night in Tolsma Indoor Track Center.

The Wildcats claimed four of the top-five positions in the event. Junior Charlie Schmitt nearly eclipsed the previous record of 15:02.3, set by Lance Harden in 2006, finishing third in 15:03.89, exactly one-tenth of a second shy of second-place finisher Benjamin Ronoh of Eastern Tennessee State.

Sophomore Ryan Hopkins took fourth in a personal-best 15:08.86, the ninth-best time in Davidson history. Hopkins now ranks as the 'Cats' sixth-best performer in the event all-time. Freshman Demetrios Pagnois rounded out the top-five in 15:19.58, ranking him as the ninth-best Davidson performer in the event. Freshman Wes Reynolds placed eighth in 15:52.29.

Divinnie broke Davidson's 3000-meter run record in the Wildcats' season-opening event Saturday, Jan. 23, the Kent Taylor UNC Classic. Divinnie won the event in 8:24.47, surpassing Alex Hoyt's mark of 8.35.14 and Dan Gibson's oversize track mark of 8:25.7.

Divinnie's new 5000m record also surpasses Gibson's oversize mark in the event of 14:59.22, set in 2002.

The 5000m was the only event the 'Cats competed in on Friday. The team will compete in select events on the second day of competition Saturday.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Tom Divinnie broke his third Davidson indoor men's track and field record, winning the mile run at the Liberty Open in record time Saturday in Tolsma Indoor Track Center.

Divinnie posted a time of four minutes, 16.30 seconds, breaking the previous record of 4:16.5 set by Thad Sieracki last March. Junior Peter Bruton finished second in 4:18.98, the eighth-fastest mile in Davidson history.

Divinnie broke a total of two Davidson records at the Liberty Open, as he broke Davidson's 5000-meter run record Friday evening with a time of 14:44.59. The Brentwood, Tenn. native broke Davidson's 3000-meter run record in the Wildcats' season-opening event Saturday, Jan. 23, the Kent Taylor UNC Classic with a time of 8:24.47.

"It was another great performance from Tom," said head coach Gary Andrew. "He and Peter led a string of solid performances for our team."

The Wildcats placed three others in the mile top-10. Senior Blake Evitt placed sixth in 4:22.96 while junior Charlie Schmitt and sophomore Ryan Hopkins tied for seventh in 4:26.10.

Freshman Adrian Fadil became Davidson's eighth-best performer all-time in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:11.35.

Freshman Demetrios Pagonis placed third in the 3000-meter run in 8:41.96, ranking him as the seventh-best performer at Davidson all-time in the event.

Senior Mordecai Scott led the 'Cats in the sprints, placing sixth in the 200-meter dash in 23.47 seconds and 14th in the 60-meter dash in 7.24 seconds.

The Davidson track and field team will return to action on Friday, Feb. 12 for their final tune-up before the Southern Conference Indoor Championships.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - Junior Heather Conarroe won the 5,000 meters, followed immediately by classmate Danielle Ruggieri, to pace the Wildcat women's track and field team at the Liberty Invitational this weekend.

Conarroe finished the event with a winning time of 18:12.23, while Ruggieri was the runner up with a time of 18:12.72.

Freshman Natalie Atabek and sophomore Jane Gay continued the strong performance by the Wildcat distance runners. Atabek finished third in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:19.48. Gay placed 10th in the mile with a time of 5:26.02 and was also the team's top finisher in the 1,000 meters, placing fourth with a time of 3:10.83.

Junior Erin Lupfer finished fifth in the high jump with a mark of 1.6 meters, and sophomore Danielle Wright paced the sprinters. She finished 13th in the 60 meters with a time of 8.26 and also had the team's top finish in the 200 meters, placing seventh with a time of 27.07.

The Wildcats will return to action at the Carolina Invitational Feb. 12 on the campus of the University of North Carolina. 

Elon - Liberty Open

LYNCHBURG, Va. - On the first day of the Liberty Open, three Elon Phoenix runners placed in the top five participants in the 5,000-meter run.  It was the only event in which Elon tracksters were entered on day one of the two-day indoor meet held at the Tolsma Indoor Track.

Allyson Costa placed third after running an 18:16.12 in her 5,000.  Phoenix runners Jacqueline Alnes and Emily Fournier finished fourth and fifth, respectively.  Alnes posted an 18:30.32 while Fournier crossed the finish line in 18:54.29.

Women's events at the 2010 Liberty Open will resume with the pole vault at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

LYNCHBURG, Va. - For the second consecutive weekend, Elon's Veronica Day established a new program record in the triple jump.  After soaring 37' 9.5" a week ago, Day launched a distance of 38' 2.25" to place second in the event during the 2010 Liberty Open on Saturday.

Day and Jennine Strange also each won individual events.  Their event titles were two of six top-three Phoenix placements over the two-day event.  

Day was the event champion in the long jump, posting a distance of 18' 2.5".  She bested Appalachian State's Kiara Crutchfield by just .25 inches for the title.  Elon's Monique Vines placed seventh in the event with a distance of 17' 5.5". 

Strange brought home the title in the 800 meter run, recording a time of 2:18.27 as she just edged out Liberty's Meghan Burgraff by 0.6 seconds. 

Elon's first top-three finish came in Friday's action when Allyson Costa grabbed third in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 18:16.21.

Alyssa Girvin's toss of 46' 0.75" in the weight throw was good enough to earn her a third-place finish while Justine Robertson's mark of 43' 1.75" placed her sixth.

Robertson also grabbed a second-place finish after sending the shot put 39' 3.25".

Elon also received top-10 placings from Courtney Weathers in the high jump (7th; 5' 01"); Courtney Whalen (5th; 5:16.21), Emily Tryon (7th; 5:24.03) and Christine Pacewicz (8th; 5:24.12) in the mile; Melanie Reyer in the 1,000 meter run (5th; 3:12.25); Lauren Hawkesworth in the triple jump (8th; 36' 3.0"); Melissa Turowski (6th; 1:01.64) and Amy Salek (7th; 1:02.31) in the 400 meter dash, Dana Cataldo in the 200 meter dash (8th; 27.26); Amanda Rice (4th; 9.25) and Andrea March (6th; 9.74) in the 60 meter hurdles and Caitlin Beeler (4th; 10:22.40) and Morgan Denecke (5th; 10:30.99) in the 3,000 meter run.

The Phoenix's 4x400 relay team of Turowski, March, Salek and Strange also grabbed a fifth-place finish with a time of 4:08.38.

Elon will visit Newport News, Va. for the Vince Brown Invitational on Feb. 6.

College of Charleston - Clemson Games

CLEMSON, S.C. - College of Charleston women's track & field broke three more school records at the Clemson Games on Friday.

Junior Brynne Johnson (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) began Friday's meet by placing fourth in the pentathlon with 3,084 points. Her total breaks the school record by 21 points, which she previously set at the 2008 Southern Conference Indoor Championships, hosted by Clemson. Johnson surpassed conference foes Carlyn Wright and Jettana Thomas of Western Carolina, who finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

Freshmen Jelain McArthur (Laurens, S.C./Laurens District) and Chelsea Taylor (Seneca, S.C./Seneca) continued to shine, each breaking school records for the second consecutive meet. Just one week after setting CofC records in the 60-meter hurdles and triple jump, McArthur broke the record in the long jump. Her jump of 18'1 2/3" gave her a third-place finish and passed the previous school record of 17'3¾", set in 2007 by Saskia Kalmeijer.

McArthur also competed in the 60-meter hurdles, where she advanced to the finals after recording an eighth-place time of 9.17 seconds in the preliminaries. She finished eighth in the finals in 9.48 seconds, giving her the top four times in Cougar history. Junior Isabel Boersma (Franklin, Tenn./Ravenwood) also participated in the hurdles, placing 17th a personal-best time of 9.48; .28 of a second faster than her previous personal record.

Taylor placed third in the pole vault after clearing a record-breaking height of 11'6" on her second attempt. Taylor was named the Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week after clearing 11'5¾" to set a new school record last week at the UNC Classic.

Middle-distance runner Emily Nagle (Annapolis, Md./Richmond) led a trio of Cougars in the mile race, finishing seventh with a time of 5:23.40. Sophomore Alyssa D'Orazio (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) placed 10th in 5:31.85 while redshirt-freshman Tierney Willard (Midlothian, Va./James River) came in 14th with a time of 5:44.20.

Competition continues at the Clemson Games on Saturday, beginning with the shot put and the triple jump at noon.

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Freshman jumper Jelain McArthur (Laurens, S.C./Laurens District) topped her own record as she captured the triple jump on the final day of the Clemson Games.

Just one day after setting a new school record in the long jump, McArthur beat the triple jump record that she set last weekend at the Kent Taylor UNC Classic. Her distance of 39'1¾" is 1'5¾" further than her jump last weekend. McArthur now owns three College of Charleston records.

Sophomore Emily Smith (Rock Hill, S.C./Northwestern) placed second in the high jump with a season-best height of 5'8". She was just 1¼" behind champion Maya Pressley of Auburn.

In the throws, sophomore Keisha Thacker (York, S.C./York Comprehensive) advanced to the finals of the shot put after finishing ninth in the preliminaries with a season-best throw of 33'7¼". Freshman Casey McKee (Johnsonville, S.C./Johnsonville) narrowly missed the cutoff for the finals with a 10th-place throw of 32'11¼". McKee also set a personal record in the weight throw, hurling the 20-lb. weight a distance of 39'4" to come in ninth.

On the track, two Cougars recorded top-10 times in the 800 meters. Sophomore Alyssa D'Orazio (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield Memorial) crossed the finish line in 2:22.78 to place fifth while redshirt-senior Emily Nagle (Annapolis, Md./Richmond) finished ninth with a time of 2:24.90. Newcomer Tierney Willard (Midlothian, Va./NC State) recorded a time of 2:30.67 for 16th place.

Distance runner Erin Stoddard (Mauldin, S.C./J.L. Mann) placed second in the 5,000 meters while recording a time of 19:26.50.

In the sprints, junior Mary Zolga (Raynham, Mass./Bridgewater-Raynham) shaved. 10 of a second off her personal-best time in the 400-meter race to place 18th. Zolga is the third-fastest Cougar in school history in the 400 meters. Junior Isabel Boersma (Franklin, Tenn./Ravenwood) completed the race in 28.15 seconds for 22nd place.

Charleston returns to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the second time this season to compete in the UNC Meet on Feb. 12.

Western Carolina - Clemson Games

Clemson, S.C. - Western Carolina indoor track and field finished day one at the Clemson Games with eight podium finishes. Sprinter Benny Davis led WCU with a win in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.63 seconds.

The Catamounts continued their strong indoor season as the men earned five top-three finishes, while the women picked up three.

Davis, a sophomore from Morganton, N.C., won his first 400-meter event of the year.

Freshman Cordell Livingston continued his strong season with a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles. Livingston scored a time of 8.14 in the preliminaries before earning 8.17 in the finals.

Senior Michael Osteen recorded a season-best 4.63 meters in the pole vault, placing second in the event. In the long jump, Lawren Willard placed second with a jump of 6.96 meters, while Alex Dollard earned third with a distance of 6.86 meters.

Josey Weaver recorded a season-high in the mile run with a time of 4:23.37. Cale McDaniel (17.35 meters in the weight throw, 4th) and Dominique Young (6.85 in the 60-meter dash, 5th) also paced the field for the Catamount men.

In the men's heptathlon, Matt Evans was in second after day one with 2,946 points.

Sophomore Deirdra Morrison led the women with a second place finish in the weight throw event. Morrison, a native of Wilkesboro, N.C., hit a distance mark of 15.45 meters.

Catamounts Jordan Gaddy and Jane't Carothers followed with a pair of third place finishes in their respective events. Gaddy ran the mile run with a season-high mark of 5:12.82. In the 400-meter dash, Carothers also hit a season pinnacle with a time of 56:37.

Tiana Jones (5.49 meters in the long jump, 5th), Ashley Walla (3.36 meters in the pole vault, 6th) and Felicia Paulding (7.71 seconds in the 60-meter dash, 8th) finished with team-highs for the Catamount women.

On Friday, Caryln Wright was fifth and Jettana Thomas sixth in the women's pentathlon with 2,934 and 2,795 total points, respectively.

Western Carolina will wrap up the Clemson Games early Saturday with events beginning at Noon. Details of the meet can be accessed online at CatamountSports.com.

Clemson, S.C. - The Western Carolina men and women's indoor track team wrapped up another successful meet on Saturday, placing a season-high 17 individuals in the top-three at the Clemson Games.

Both the men and women's squads finished among the top-three in podium finishes, along with Clemson and Auburn. The WCU men edged Auburn, who was ranked No. 18 in the recent United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Poll (USTFCCCA), with 10 top-3 finishes compared to the Tigers eight.

Benny Davis and Cornelius Williams both earned individual titles in their respective events. On Friday, Davis collected the men's 400-meter dash title in 49.63 seconds. Williams earned his first season victory in the triple jump with a distance of 14.55 meters.

Senior Matt Evans set a school record in the heptathlon with a total of 5,034 points. Evans earned first in the high jump (2.08m), shot put (13.47m), second in the long jump (6.36m) and third in the pole vault (3.90m).

Also in the triple jump, Cordell Livingston placed third with a high-mark of 13.67 meters. The men's 'A' 4x400 relay team  (Brandon Hairston, Dominique Young, Drew Tucker and Benny Davis)  finished second with a time of 3:19.41.

Drew Tucker paced himself in the 800-meter run with a fourth place finish after running the event in 1:56.39. Cale McDaniel set the WCU season-high in the shot put with a distance of 15.74 meters for a third place standing.

The Catamount women made another strong showing in the Clemson Game running events with three podium finishes on Saturday.

Olivia Jacobs ran the 3,000 meter run in a season-high 10:22.40 minutes, earning second in the event.

Senior Tiana Jones grabbed third in the triple jump with a mark of 11.75 meters. The WCU 'A' 4x400 relay team (Shalyn McMichael, Felisha Garren, Felicia Paulding, Jane't Carothers)  earned third in a time of 3:45.99.

Sophomore Deirdra Morrison earned her second top-three mark in the Clemson Games with a throw of 11.79 meters in the shot put.

"I feel like we have made some progress in areas that we needed to concentrate on," said Catamount coach Danny Williamson.

 "I am proud of the way we competed. We looked at this meet as an opportunity to show that we can compete at the highest level, regardless of what the name is on the uniform. We take great pride in representing Western Carolina University."

WCU returns to Clemson University in two weeks for the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday, February 13.

The Citadel - UNC Open

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Freshman Micah Wessinger broke the school record and the freshman record in the 1,000m and Kelsi Billings broke the freshman high jump, long jump and 800m pentathlon records as the Bulldogs competed in the Carolina Classic on Friday, Jan. 29. Due to inclement weather in Chapel Hill, all events scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30 were cancelled.

Wessinger placed third overall with a time of 2:58.95, running past the school record of 3:10.74. Wessinger also set the freshman record which was a mark of 3:28.35.

Billings recorded a time of 2:34.67 in the 800m pentathlon moving her to sixth all-time in the 800m, while breaking the freshman 800m pentathlon record of 2:40.46. She also broke the freshman pentathlon record of 2,708 points by tallying 2,798 points. Billings set new freshman school records in the high jump and long jump pentathlon jumping for marks of 4' 8.75" and 15' 7.75", respectively.

Monique Edwards improved her personal-best in the 20lb. weight throw when she threw a mark of 52' 10.75" for fourth place. Also in the 20lb. weight throw, Emily Green threw a mark of 47' 9.25" for ninth place. Green reset her personal-best record while moving from fourth to third all-time in The Citadel's top 10 list.

In other performances, Sarah Strickland placed ninth in the mile recording a time of 5:19.46 while Erinn Carter moved to third all-time in the 500m with a time of 1:23.98 for 20th place.

For the men, the 35lb. weight throw was a success for the Bulldogs. Quintin Turner finished third overall recording a mark of 51' 1.75" while Chris Castagno moved to third all-time when he posted a mark of 50' 4.50" for fourth place. Matt Earls improved his personal-best record when he threw 48' 7.25" for fifth place. His mark also moved him to fifth all-time in The Citadel's top 10 lists.

For the second week in a row, Kevin Hardy advanced to the finals in the 60m dash with his prelim time of 7.07. In the finals he recorded a time of 7.03 for a 15th place finish.

In the 1,000m, Brendan Kight placed fifth with a time of 2:36.11 earning the eighth all-time spot. John Gatewood ran the ninth best all-time record when he recorded a time of 2:36.66 in the 1,000m to finish sixth overall.

David Miller tied the seventh all-time record in the 300m dash when he recorded a time of 36.44 seconds for 13th place and Daniel Till ran 37.13 seconds in the 300m dash to claim the 10th all-time record to finish 22nd overall.

Georgia Southern - UNC Open

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.
- In an abbreviated schedule, the Georgia Southern track & field team participated in the 2010 Dick Taylor Carolina Classic indoor track meet scheduled for Friday-Saturday, January 29-30. Saturday's events have been cancelled due to the weather conditions in the area, but the Eagles participated in nine events on the first day.

Senior Laura Fuller (Cartersville, Ga.) captured fifth place in the one-mile run with a time of 5:15.70 with freshman Sara Curry placing 12th overall in the event with a time of 5:28.68. In the 60 meter hurdles, Jasmine Billings (Lawrenceville, Ga.) ran an 8.97 for 10th place after posting a time of 8.86 in the preliminaries.

Three Eagles posted top-30 times in the 300 meter dash with Morgan Jefferson (Villa Rica, Ga.) placing 14th with a time of 42.80 and Joann Jaja-Benson (Savannah, Ga.) at 16th with a time of 43.07. Millicent Brooks-Millender (Douglasville, Ga.) completed the event with a time of 44.96 for 27th overall.

Georgia Southern also placed three women in the 500 meter run with Azura Robillard (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) in 17th at 1:22.95 and Mary O'Sullivan (1:24.13 - Greenville, S.C.) and Talisha Rice (1:26.10 - Stockbridge, Ga.) finishing 22nd and 25th, respectively.

Senior Shaunta Hamilton (11th place - Macon, Ga.) and Sharonica Henton (12th place - San Antonio, Texas/Statesboro, Ga.) both competed in the Indoor Pentathalon with Hamilton earning 3064 points and Henton 2824 total for the events.  Hamilton scored 738 points with her top finish in the long jump with a distance of 5.63 meters. She tied for sixth in the high jump with a height of 1.50 meters. With a throw of 11.49 meters in the shot put, Henton added 627 points to her total score.

In the pentathlon running events, Hamilton posted a time of 9.85 in the 60 meter hurdles for 740 points and 11th place with Henton scoring 729 points with her 12th-place finish (9.91). Henton finished 12th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:47.82 for 486 points with Hamilton in 13th with 466 points (2:49.77).
