GREENVILLE, S.C. - Raegan Thompson scored 15 points and claimed a season high nine rebounds to propel Furman to a 61-46 victory over UNC Greensboro in Southern Conference women's basketball action Tuesday evening on Carolina First Court at Timmons Arena.

Thompson, a freshman guard from Oak Ridge, Tenn., drained 6-of-11 shots from the field, including 2-of-5 3-pointers, and contributed three steals and pair of assists in helping Furman (6-13, 4-6 SoCon) to its third win in the last four clashes with UNC Greensboro (7-11, 4-6 SoCon).

Kali Holtfreter followed with 12 points, and Kendra Berry added nine points for the Paladins.  Susan Troutman matched a career high with 12 rebounds, keying Furman to a 42-30 advantage on the boards.

Lakiah Hyson paced the Spartans with 16 points, and Amanda Leigh contributed 10.

Furman overcame a slow start with a 10-0 run to take a 30-20 lead into halftime.

UNC Greensboro cut the lead to eight points on a layup by Amanda Leigh to start the second half, but Furman quickly responded with a Thompson layup to ignite a 15-6 run to take a 45-36 advantage following a Berry layup with 11:31 remaining.

The Paladins' lead grew to as many as 21 points following a Lee Stephens jump shot with 6:09 left.

Furman shot 41.2 percent from the field (21x51) and held UNCG to just 34.0 percent shooting (18x53).

Thompson's 15-point outing marked her second consecutive solid home outing, following a season high 22-point performance in a 72-53 victory over Wofford on Jan. 5.

Furman entertains SoCon frontrunner Chattanooga on Saturday in a 3:00 p.m. contest at Timmons Arena.
