SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Chattanooga's Shanara Hollinquest became the school's all-time leader in made free throws and has been selected the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games January 12-18. It marks her third honor this season.
The senior forward from Sylacauga, Ala., posted her 10th double-double of the season and 15th of her career Saturday against Western Carolina with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She also added two steals and two assists.
Hollinquest made her first free throw of the game, and with it became Chattanooga's all-time leader in made free throws, surpassing Regina Kirk's record of 418 set in 1988.
Her final two free throws of the game with 0.9 seconds remaining gave the Lady Mocs a 68-66 victory against the Lady Catamounts.
Hollinquest's 19 points moved her into sixth place all-time at UTC with 1,488 career points. She is also seventh in the record books in rebounding with 769 for her career.
The forward is averaging 18.4 points and 9.1 rebounds to lead the league in both categories.
The Lady Mocs return to action with a two-game road trip, traveling to Furman on Saturday and Wofford on Monday.
Other top performers included Appalachian State's Anna Freeman, College of Charleston's Brooke Kotcella, Georgia Southern's Carolyn Whitney, UNC Greensboro's Monique Floyd and Samford's Emily London.
