SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Samford junior Emily London averaged 28 points in two league games and has been honored as the Southern Conference women's basketball player of the week for all games January 5-11.
The junior guard from Lexington, Ky., shot 58.6 percent from the field, including 64.3 percent from behind the arc. She pulled down 16 rebounds, dished out six assists and tallied four steals.
Against Davidson, London set a new school single-game scoring record, posting 35 points and eclipsing the previous record set in 2006. She also currently holds the conference record for most points scored in a game this season. London scored 21 of her points in the second half and was perfect from the free throw line, but the Bulldogs fell 78-77 on a last-second shot.
In the 71-65 victory at Appalachian State, London posted her first career double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds. She went 6-of-9 from the three-point line and 6-of-7 from the charity stripe
Samford returns to action Monday when it hosts Western Carolina.
