ASU's Caudle Named Women's Runner of the Week

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State freshman Brittney Caudle has been honored as the Southern Conference Runner of the Week for her performance at the Mountaineer Open Saturday, as announced by the league office today. It is the second time in three weeks Caudle has been honored with the weekly award.

The art major from Middletown, Md., finished first out of 108 runners at the Mountaineer Open. Her time of 17:53 beat her previous personal best by 20 seconds. Caudle also set an ASU freshman record and the Donnie Kennedy Trails course record. Her time ranks eighth all time among ASU women.

Up next for Appalachian State is the Charlotte Invitational on October 2.

Other top performers included:

Elon's Emily Fournier, a junior exercise sport science major from Attleboro, Mass., who finished third at the Winthrop/Asics Invitational with a time of 18:39 and led the Phoenix to a third place team finish.
