SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? UNC Greensboro’s Lauren Hein has been named the Southern Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week for all games played September 15-21. Hein tallied two goals and an assist in UNC Greensboro’s 4-0 win over High point last Thursday.
A freshman from Torrance, Calif., Hein came off the bench and headed a ball into the net to give the Spartans a
2-0 lead early in the second half. She followed that up six minutes later with a shot from 35 yards out that found the top corner of the goal to push UNCG to a 3-0 lead. In the 79th minute Hein recorded an assist when she dished the ball to Nicole Danford after drawing the High Point keeper out of the net.
Hein’s two goals came on her first two collegiate shots on goal. With her five points against High Point she vaulted into second on the team in scoring.
UNC Greensboro opens league play this weekend at home. The Spartans host Furman Friday night at 7:00 p.m. before taking on Wofford Sunday afternoon.
