Mountaineers Down Chanticleers, 1-0

BOONE, N.C. - Sophomore Katy Dodd beat two defenders down the left side and beat the Coastal Carolina goalkeeper to the far right post to give Appalachian State University women’s soccer a 1-0 win Wednesday night at the Appalachian Soccer Stadium.

With the win, Appalachian moves to 2-1 on the season while the Chanticleers fall to 2-1.

On the game-winner, Dodd took a pass from Michelle Jewell before putting the ball in the back of the net for her second career goal.

Caroline Clarke preserved her second-straight shutout, making five saves.  The junior is now tied for second in school history with 11 career shutouts.

Paige Morrow and Meggie Graham had two shots apiece while Sarah McPartlan led Coastal with four shots.

The Mountaineers are back in action Saturday afternoon when they travel to Campbell for a 4 p.m. match.
